Angels photographed over nation's capital?

Hanukkah mystery: Eerie blue images caught on camera at menorah lighting WASHINGTON – Was it a bird? Was it a plane? Was it a sign from heaven?

That's what Carrie Devorah wants to know after she inadvertently photographed some mysterious blue light images hovering heavenward while taking pictures of the lighting of the Chabad menorah on the first night of Hanukkah last night on the Ellipse in the nation's capital.

Mysterious blue images captured during menorah lighting in Washington, D.C.

"I took this shot as I was walking to get into place," she said. "For those of you who know D.C., you will recognize the two red lights to the left as being from the Washington Monument. And you will know there is no building that tall to the right of the menorah where the two blue images are."

Are they lens refractions? Are they planes from National Airport? Devorah isn't sure.

I thought is said she posted it right away so it would almost have to be a DIGITAL camera, thus NO internal , or lens reflection problems! eh

Makes her search for an angel all the more touching.

If this brought her comfort, all the best for her.

We saw something early one morning North of Phoenix and learned later that day it was a rocket fired from White Sands, N.M. Phoenix was really buzzing about the beautiful, mysterious white squiggly ??? in the sky. It did look similar to this, but not quite.

World Net Daily is becoming an online supermarket tabloid.

Maybe. The lenses are small for the the little cameras that are intended for the Instamatic crowd [such as myself]. That doesn't necessarily mean a simple lens because chromatic aberration should be corrected with at least another piece of plastic [used to be glass]. Upmarket cameras like Canon and Nikon have fancy lenses like the film SLRs, plastic lenses or not. Internal reflection could be from the edge of anything that is in the light path, might not even be the lens.

I'm glad the nice lady got some affirmation from her photo. I fail to see its relevance to anyone else, however. Reflections inside a lens hardly seem worth mentioning.

Why do you always frequent these threads then? You must have seen the title of this thread but still felt the need to come throw out your anti religious babbling. And, while I agree this was probably an easily explained anomaly, these pictures have not, apparently, been examined by any experts. Yet you can explain them away with one glance. It must suck to always have a frown on your face and then feel the need to put frowns on everyone else's. Joy to the world, says I. There is no joy, says you.

hmmmmmmmmm........I wonder! I really do. Although I tend to lean more toward "angels unaware" encounters.

You'd probably really enjoy reading the story of a friend of mine ~ Mark's Secret Of Sapphire, Buddy. It's a really great dog story and, at the very bottom of the page, I added an rather interesting photo I happened to capture from a web-cam at the location of where this all took place....

btw ~ speaking of dog's and 'angels', I was just about to ping you to this post on another thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1296611/posts?q=1&&page=151

I said nothing antireligious. I merely said that the "angels" in this image are optical artifacts. That is the truth. As for experts, I have been making photographs as part of my profession for over 40 years. I've seen such artifacts on images and have learned how to light my subjects so as not to have them appear.

I can't imagine why an explanation of an image is somehow "antireligious."

Perhaps it was taken too close to Kmart's blue light special

Because like hearing that there is no Santa, some religious nut jobs get angered when logic is introduced into their lives. If one lives in Fantasy Land, of course they're gonna get mad at the guy who opens the Door to Reality.
