You raise a very interesting point, which was one of my reasons for looking at the possibility of running for Congress. I can't tell whether this is an "official" hearing or not. If it is, the Rules of the House apply, to wit:

Any Member of Congress is welcome to attend ANY Committee or Subcommittee Hearing that is officially called. The visiting Member can even participate and ask questions, but only after all official Members of the Committee have finished their questions.

In most hearings, and in this one (if it is official), there are at most two Members of the Committee present. If I had been elected to Congress, I would DEFINITELY have attended THIS hearing, and I guar-on-damn-tee that the fur would have flown.

I work on the Hill. This sham of an event, is a forum. Not an official hearing on behalf of a committee. The use of committee rooms are controlled by the Chairmen of each committtee. There is no offical transcript for this so called event. Just a moronic forum.

Trust me, we, the taxpayers are NOT paying for anything related to this hearing except the use of the room and Capitol Police, if needed, for security. The panelists traveled at their own expense.
