Here is a well timed post considering our conversation:

We're covering old ground. Let me close by saying this. With all due respect, it appears you're placing WashDC politics ahead of the safety and security of the American people. The President has been reelected. Thank God. Without a clearly defined federal policy, however, the problem of illegal immigrants breaking our laws and straining our governmental infrastructure, we can't honestly conclude that intelligence matters as they relate to "border sanity", has been addressed in this new intel reform bill.
"President Bush is vowing to help House Republicans enact tighter immigration-security controls "early in the next session" of Congress."
We shall see.
National Security has been, in one form or another, my job for the last 24 years. I don't place politics ahead of that and with all due respect, just because we are looking at this particular bill through a different set of lenses, you are picking a fight to make that accusation. Regards,
Thanks for the info.
Appears I struck a nerve. Look. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but the facts speak for themselves. Frankly, I find your willingness to accept the WashDC status quo, in this case accepting bureaucratic intel reform without real immigration reform being a big part of it, an indicator that you place politics before the safety and security of the American people. I just hope you're not in National Security field associated with the US government, AKA. Homeland Security.
I am not in the Homeland Security department. I am in the national security business, and homeland security can't be excluded from that.
See my bio. I have been a user or supplier of the intelligence products and infrastructure that this bill is intended to strengthen for my entire career(s). As I said, that doesn't take away from the immigration reform issue. I just can't be myopic about a single issue when there is a big picture, even if I personally agree with you on this. I consider this a small step forward. Now lets push for the next step.
Regards,
LOL 5150 is the radio code here in LA for a person that is crazy.
Myopic! LOL A catchy word, but misused.
It's obvious. You don't get it. Immigration reform should be part of any serious security and intelligence reform. The two issues are tied together. Excluding substantive immigration reform, from a comprehensive intelligence reform bill, shows you don't support serious immigration reform. You sound just like PresBush, PresFox and most of the members of Congress. None of you see a million plus illegals invading the US every year as a serious problem. It boggles the mind.
What boggles the mind is that you can't see that I support your issue, but not at the expense of other issues.
I have tried to keep this polite, but you seem to be the sensitive one, continually looking for something to dig into me with when I simply wanted to have some educated discussion and understanding into what was passed.
I support you in your fight for immigration reform. But I think we have carried this nit-picking far enough. You go try to post a discussion thread and not have at least one smart-ass continue to badger you or make up accusations because they think they know better. As a conservatve, I applaud your position. On personal level, I wont waste either of our time anymore.
It seems to me you're continuing this argument in an inappropriate forum! This thread is about intelligence/counterintelligence.
The points you're arguing need to be addressed by the Department of Homeland Security - not the Department of Intelligence! DHS is where immigration 'control' (or lack thereof) must be addressed. You're muting the purpose of this thread: to use Freeper power to parse out potential 'gotchas' in this particular piece of legislation.
No, he's not. He's saying that untold millions have poured over the border. How many are enemy agents? Who knows? It IS an intel problem.
Here's how the senate vote came out:

AND:
NEW POLL UP:
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/
Do you support legislation that would secure our borders and reform immigration law?
Yes 95% 937 votes
No 5% 51 votes
Total: 988 votes
Bottomline. This legislation is a decision based on politics and not comprehensive intelligence reform.
I think not.
What you don't seem to comprehend, is that this new intelligence reform legislation will effect all aspects of the federal bureaucracy, across the board and will include every agency in the federal governemnt that conducts any intel.
>>>>You're muting the purpose of this thread...
Really! LOL Once again, I think not. I stand with Jim Sensenbrenner, my Congressman, Joel Hefley, Congressman Tom Tancredo and 64 other Republicans who voted against this legislation. And remember, without the Democrats, it never would have been passed. 183 Dems voted for it and only 156 Pubs. Sad and pathetic.
