The Bekaa valley is a particularly nasty place (although it's in Lebanon, not Syria) - if we have to clean the place out it will be a very dirty job.It's in Lebanon, but controled by the Syrian army and it's various terrorist surragates. It's also the ideal place to test the follow on to the MOAB, plus various fuel air explosives.
Historically, the air space over it has been a great place for a Turkey Shoot. :)

Iowa. They've been fighting clan-based civil wars in that area since King David's time and probably before. Good terrain for specops, not so good for conventional troops, lousy for occupation.
