Baathists Reportedly Relay Money, Support

U.S. military intelligence officials have concluded that the Iraqi insurgency is being directed to a greater degree than previously recognized from Syria, where they said former Saddam Hussein loyalists have found sanctuary and are channeling money and other support to those fighting the established government.

Based on information gathered during the recent fighting in Fallujah, Baghdad and elsewhere in the Sunni Triangle, the officials said that a handful of senior Iraqi Baathists operating in Syria are collecting money from private sources in Saudi Arabia and Europe and turning it over to the insurgency.

In some cases, evidence suggests that these Baathists are managing operations in Iraq from a distance, the officials said. A U.S. military summary of operations in Fallujah noted recently that troops discovered a global positioning signal receiver in a bomb factory in the western part of the city that "contained waypoints originating in western Syria."

Concerns about Syria's role in Iraq were also expressed in interviews The Washington Post conducted yesterday with Jordan's King Abdullah and Iraqi President Ghazi Yawar. "There are people in Syria who are bad guys, who are fugitives of the law and who are Saddam remnants who are trying to bring the vicious dictatorship of Saddam back," Yawar said. "They are not minding their business or living a private life. They are . . . disturbing or undermining our political process."...."

Your theory that it is spin to deflect from Iran is just too Byzantine. It would not surprise me in the least that Syria is given succor to the perps in Iraq. The issue is what to do about it. Send in the CIA with some poisoned umbrella tips I say.

Sounds familiar doesn't it.

GW is sharing with America what our intel and military in the Middle East have known since the $oddomite regime was killed off, captured or chased off.

Not discounting your suspicion regarding the CIA, and for that matter, we also need to be careful about Israel (and other interested parties) tugging on our cape as well, but there has been a far too much evidence pointing to Syria and Saddam's WMD (and other connections), and Syria would be a fast take-down (as compared with Iran).

On a scale of 1-10, a Syria conquest is probably a 2, while Iran (or NK, for that matter) would be at least a 6 or 7. Without the cooperation of the populace -- doubtful if they are overtly attacked -- subduing Iran would probably require a ground force twice the size of what we currently have deployed in Iraq, and possibly tactical nukes.

I am convinced that this war has always been about IRAN and her supporters, RUSSIA, FRANCE and China... our 'friends' that are really our enemies.

Up till now, it appears that we have been building the basis for our overthrow of Iran... hence the RUSSIAN effort to get them their own bomb... so that RUSSIA and CHINA the communist nations in capitalist drag... won't get blamed for Iran nuking us. Or face the brunt of a nuke exchange with us, were that to happen.

Iran probably already has purchased nuke icbm's from Russia or China, for use on us, in the upcoming war. Of course if we can conjecture this, KNOW that the pentagon already has.

I expect a simultaneous outbreak of war that will make pearl harbor look like a date with your highschool sweethart.

China VS.. Taiwan and Japan.

N. Korea VS S. Korea and Japan, possibly launching on our bases in Australia too

Russia moving on Ukraine, and four or five previous satellite nations, with the complacent French and German "nato" allies turning over the sensitive codes and controls that would make NATO... worthless cannon fodder.

Russia backing Turkey and Iran against us, in a massive attack on our thinly spread forces in Iraq, and possibly even attacking Israel. With the 4.ID shennanigans with Turkey at the beginning of this war with the terrorists... I have NO FAITH at ALL in their alliance with Israel any longer. Turkey, the EU, RUSSIA and FRANCE are all against us.

Egypt will continue to make nice with Israel, while preparing for a time invasion from the south. Iran will launch on Israel. Iraq's transplanted Syrian WMD's will be used on Israel in the North and the USA and coaltion forces in Iraq and I would not put it past Pakistan to turn on us in concert with a worldwide, highly coordinated asault on the USA, Israel, Britain, Australia.

Christian will be murdered all over Africa... by muslims and communist/fascist dictators, while the few democracies left there will fall like a house of cards in coordinated coupe d'etats.

It further would NOT surprise me, if terrorist factions in place in the Continental USA, Southern Canada, and along the Mexican border would set off their sleepers and attack our entire infrastructure simultaenously... banks, roads, bridged, telecommunications, schools, and businesses critical to the movement of water and food...

resulting in a massive collapse of the capitalist worldwide system... and particularly focused on the USA and British colonies.

the smoking twin should be seen as an eternal testimony and prophetic warning as to what the islamies and our enemies have in store for us...

they want to decapitate us...
and Syria-Iran are but pawns in the greater scheme of things.

If the whole enchilada erupts... make no mistake we WILL nuke our enemies into submission and billions will die... and islam along with it's suporting states, will no longer exist. Unfortunately, many of us won't either.

We are going to see a lot worse before we see things set aright. IMHO.

We are in very very dangerous times.
Syria needs to get whipped first.
Then Korea, then Iran... but Iran, may not wait. Nukes are on the way.

Pressure China to go after NK?

Who do think supports the Islamic Fascists, the Tooth Fairy? The real axis of Evil is Russia & China (Bush knows this. That’s one of the reasons why we are in Iraq). Both these countries have been playing possum. The first signs of their true colors of their deception came to light when they signed a military alliance in the SPRING OF 2001. The 9/11 attacks IMHO were the initial stage of a nuclear first strike by Russia & China that failed

The 18 to 44 years olds are those should really be stated to be the lost generation of Iranian youth lost in the Iraq-Iran war in the 80's. During a single week around Basara, Saddam gassed and killed 100,000 young fighters aged between 11-15 years who were pushed forward by the Revoluntary Guards.... It is mostly disaffected females because a generation of young men perished; only when the manpower was exhaused did those from France, e.g., the A-TROLL-As stop the fighting (they were in Iraq when they lost their will due to gas to fight).

Turkeys loyalties lie with their Arab brethren, and fellow Muslims. They would never help America over them.

But then the Bekaa valley is a cakewalk from the Golon. Golon Heights is the gate way to that valley.

However I do not believe we will invade, I may be wrong, but I think it will become a nuclear war before then.

The Palestinian Authority sends terrorists there too.

I think that has a lot more to do with the downturn in terrorist attacks than the fence in Israel. All the good bomb material is being shipped off to Iraq. Face it, a couple of years ago I would hear a bomb a week in Jerusalem, but since the start of the Iraq war I have not heard ONE. The kicker is, Israel has not begun to build the fence around Jerusalem yet. A fence that does not exist does not stop bombers.

I think Iran will get the hint...

You believe they're capable of rational thought?
That's like thinking a demoncRAT is capable of moral behavior.

I would rather invade Syria. They have been a, if not the, major instigator of trouble in the middle east for generations. Also, there is supposedly a big pro US movement among the youth of Iran.
