BEIJING (Reuters) - China's largest personal computer maker, Lenovo Group Ltd., said Wednesday it is buying control of IBM's PC-making business for US$1.25 billion, capping the U.S. tech giant's gradual withdrawal from the business it helped pioneer in 1981.

The agreement, which forms the world's third largest PC business, calls for Lenovo to pay IBM $650 million in cash, $600 million in Lenovo Group common stock and for Lenovo to assume $500 million in net balance sheet liabilities from IBM.

Your trade deficit dollars as work. Exporting both our jobs and the money to buy America is lose-lose.

Think of the reinvestment this will lead to, the more profitable biz lines that can be developed, new and different jobs, and the greater margins - leading to more profits for stockholders (including retirement plans), who in turn invest, create jobs, buy homes, pay tuition, and so on, and so on......

Boycott IBM!

Most PC consumers already had, that's why they only have a 5% marketshare on desktops.

Where do you people buy made in America computers anyway? All the components are shipped from overseas.

I just bundled up my old one to donate it somewhere, not because of this but it was obsolete. Anyway, I think most would agree with the outsourcing of America is deeper than IBM.

Our government [read voters] did nothing when autos left, when dry goods left, when electronics left, now company ownership is on the exit-lane. The nation is moving towards Gore-Gingrich's information age, slouching into becomming keyboard mouseketeers, stocking shelves and exporting money.

I'm glad the health industry is growing. We are going to need it.

IBM still makes money on every PC.

They have patents up the wazoo.
