Rocking For Christ

The growing clout of America's 100-million evangelical Christians is being heard loud and clear. Just turn on your radio, and you'll notice that a seismic shift in American culture is taking place.

Before, you could tune into different stations, which offered different music and different messages.

But now, as Correspondent Bob Simon reports on 60 Minutes Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 8 p.m. ET/PT,, evangelical Christian music is flowing into mainstream media -- and changing it. In fact, Christian entertainment now brings in $4 billion a year.

Rappers and rockers are making hits and making money while spreading the gospel to national audiences. Christian groups can be heard on secular radio and seen on "The Tonight Show." Earlier this year, the group Third Day even played at the Republican National Convention.

"The fact that there are Christian themes now emerging in rock and that Christians are in rock is just representative of a spiritual desire or a spiritual hunger in our culture," says Cameron Strang, publisher of Relevant Magazine, a religious publication.

Unfortunately, this sinful woman hadn't spent enough time around the Pharisee to know she was worshipping Christ the wrong way....,

AMEN!

The above statement of yours explains why you take the liberal position you do on ALL musical styles being acceptable means of preaching the Gospel message. IMHO you are very naive.

It's the message - and the message comes from one's heart. What is in a man's heart is what is important. A "Heavy Beat" isn't always a bad thing...

Oh, I see. So your argument is, essentially, that when someone pens a song and they decide to put a heavy beat to it, such as "Praise Christ who saved me from my sins", they are really, deep down, doing it with demonic intentions. Sorry, but I find your argument to be severely lacking.

You're kidding right?
I never made such a ridiculous argument.

Nor am I familiar with the song you cite above so I certainly can't comment on it.

Perhaps you should try to respond to something I actually posted instead of assigning me positions you feel most comfortable arguing against.

Just a suggestion.

No evidence of them being interested in presenting the Gospel without veiled references.

There is not one verse to point to, but when Scripture is rightly divided from beginning to end, a picture emerges.

I will copy some links later.

Much like the trinity, this is not an issue where everything can be found in just a couple proof text verses.

“And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.”

We just can't worship using worldly compositions that pander to the flesh.

Ah, but could any song which is written that "preaches" a message of Salvation, Hope, Light, and Forgiveness ever really pander to teh flesh, no matter what the beat?

This is a useless discussion. You continue changing the subject, saying you didn't say what you said, saying others said something they didn't say, and the like. There's little reason to continue this discussion if you aren't going to be honest. Good day.

There we go!!! The proof Scripture. Good find, brother Billy.

I can sit at home in my underwear and read a Bible commentary. That too is worshipping the Lord. We are talking about communal worship.I guess that your Scripture is proof that it is acceptable to roll on the floor, amp up and rock out, babble, laugh like a goon, or bark like a dog, and otherwise make an ass of ourselves as part of our Sunday 11:00am service

I realize that - but when you use, as an example, "Highway to Hell" instead of a similar song with ?Christian lyrics, it tells me your argument isn't sincere.

Why wouldn't I be sincere? What do I care what people think of me here?

You don't get the point I'm trying to make.

Why would God take a song like "Spirit of the Boogie" and use put His words to it to convert people?

Is God so desperate to communicate with mankind that he would use this kind of music?

I'm TELLING YOU. This sort of "cross-over" garbage is a sign of compromise and the end times.
That is my point.

Well, I don't know. When I was a teenager, I was taken to a Stryper concert, and after all that Gospel talk, it made me want to run right out and have sex...

So, I got home, looked in my scripture and found the proper way - lights out, missionary position only, and no cries of enjoyment. Luckily, the singing of "Onward, Christian Soldiers" was optional, because I couldn't remember the words rigt at that moment.

There is not one verse to point to, but when Scripture is rightly divided from beginning to end, a picture emerges.

I'll say...

Just who's doing the dividing rightly...?

I think I'll look to the Bible for a scriptural answer--

Psalm 119
11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

When you know the Word you don't have to come up with spurious interpretations to support your claims.
