Anyone know if Bush has rammed this pro-Mexico illegal alien bill through?
Looks like Bush is an open borders RINO. Please note I am a Bush volunteer and wrote a lot of checks to the RNC and Bush-Cheney 04. I guess my money really is going to Senor Vicente Fox aka narco trafficker.
Yeah I do like Pat Buchanan and Savage.
It's almost not worth arguing the point anymore with certain people, I know for sure there is another added to my *poke* list...
Spend a little time typing out a well-reasoned answer to a question...
And they decide they're in too deep, have insufficient knowledge to intelligently argue their position...so they log out and ignore.
Then they're back the next day, with the same arguements from the day before.
Ahhh....you live you learn, eh? :)
*poke*
You're wasting your breath man.
He's going to screw with you with a list of arguements, that he has no real concern over.
Then he's going to get drunk and pass out.
And be back tomorrow arguing what he missed tonite.
I believe TROLL would be the proper term.
Ow!! Stop that! :-)
No, he's not wasting his breath. And yes, I really do have concern about illegal immigration and border protection.
That said, I may indeed get drunk and pass out. It happens. It wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but it works for me. :-P
Troll? heheheh... riiiiight... nice try, newbie.
Well, I have to do my part to have an honest discussion. We'll see.
Around here, trashing of those standing a post on the border has become good sport. Almost as good a sport as trashing the TSA folks at the airport.
I would agree that a good place to enforce immigration is at the employer. Sounds like a good idea.
I disagree, however, that "sealing" the border is something simple, or even possible. A couple of divisions of Marines on the border wouldn't stop it. It might cut it down by some percentage points, but the border is just too long and there are too many ways around it. Build a hundred-foot wall and mine the first mile for the whole distance, and probably 80% would still get through by some other route.
We got people into and out of East Germany pretty much at will throughout the whole of the cold war.
I also think, that like any corporation, the country takes on the attitudes of its leaders. If our "leaders" were to take a stand for border protection that attitude would filter from the top down and it would eventually (pretty quickly I think) put a serious stop to the problem.
BTW are you with the Border Patrol?
No, I'm not with the Border Patrol. I used to be a Coastie in a former life, and we did a lot of immigration interdiction. Fortunately for me, I did all my tours on the west coast instead of the gulf coast. It was nasty over there what with all the Haitian ops in the 80's.
I honestly don't know what to do about immigration across the land border. Yes, it needs to be tighter, but I think we're fooling ourselves to think that we can really shut it off without seriously interfering with the lives of everyone within a hundred miles of the border.
You can't just stop the enforcement at the border. You have to, if you want to be effective, extend the citizenship tests to checkpoints well north of the border in order to catch those that do get through. I'm not sure that the rest of the country is prepared to deal with checkpoints.
Of course the border can be sealed, at least good enough. Just send back half of every group of crossers that you find. The other half can stay here...forever. Rotting in the sun. I am not joking. Some of the folks here would not take illegals seriously if you flew some planes into the World Trade Center and killed 3000 Americans. I am not one of them.
The border patrol has apparently never figured out that humans emit heat, and can be tracked quite easily from orbit on a cold desert night. We seem to have a few government employees that lack imagination. How people without imagination came to be in government service, of course, defys explanation.
As for rounding up the illegals already in the country, thats very easy. There is not a police department in the country that couldn't round up all the illegals in the county in a day if told to do so. Even easier if you only have to worry about feeding half of them.
However, the American people are clearly not serious about their security. They sell their childrens safety for cheap bannanas (for the moment I focus on the security issues, and not the obligation of an elected government to secure thier citizens economic rights, to wit A JOB). How many more must die before the obvious is done? I don't have a number handy...but I know one thing. However many Americans are killed in the next attack, a fair proportion of them will most certainly deserve it.
