"Worst damned case of suicide I've seen in years", said the Mexican Policia...

I wish someone could put together a list of the members of the Gortari administration and family members that have died, gone to jail, left the country. Its not quite a "Clinton" list, but its close.

Now why would the police assume it was a murder? I always drive in Mexico City with a plastic bag over my head. The air demands it.

unbelievable family.

el presidente carlos salinas gotari's bro, raul, is in jail for arranging the murder of his bro-in-law, who apparently went out on his wife to have sex with men. this murder may have taken place in the u.s., i forget. i do remember that his brother-in-law took refuge in the states.

raul's wife showed up in switzerland where she was arrested while trying to withdraw money from an account of millions.

in ol' mechico, the presidente serves one term of six years. and custom, until recently, was that the presidente selects his successor to run for the pri party. the pri party controlled mexico for 71 years until el presidente fox was elected in 2000. "democracy" in mexico will be short-lived for it's expected that the pri will re-take most of the country and the presidency in 2006.

carlos salinas gotari selected luis donaldo colosio, to run for the presidency in 1994, a pri party member and ex-govenor,but a man of the people, apparently too populist, because he was murdered in tijuana, and it was televised. i saw it live on mexican tv.

carlos left the mexican economy in shambles. the wealthy were moving their money out of mexico and with the aid of rubin, the cabinet member of the clinton administration, goldman sachs into nyc. on 2 december 1994 ernesto zedillo took office. he grew up on the california-mexico border in poverty, was noticed for his intellect by a catholic priest, and forwarded to yale where he got a ph.d. in economics.

only days into his administration, the peso underwent a devaluation, destroying the savings of the small middle class and devastating the vast poor of mexico.

much was expected of zedillo, and people feared that if he actually did attempt structural changes to mexico, that he would be murdered like colosio. his six year term passed without incident.

meanwhile, in december 1994 people blamed the out-going el presidente carlos salinas gotari for the devaluation. carlos' actions were strange--he boarded a private 727 and flew to canada loudly protesting his innocence and went on a hunger strike! he flew back to mexico, but left soon. later, he went to ireland which does not have an extradiction treaty with mexico. that was ten years ago. i don't know where he's at now; i think back in mexico, forgiven by the powers that be.

Generally, if you put a bag over someone's head, you're often not trying to kill them, but rather extort them or get some information out of them," said Alfonso Navarrete Prida, the attorney general of the State of Mexico"

He ought to know. That's a favorite tactic of the Judicial Police (sort of a combined CIA/FBI/Mafia)in Mexico.

Enrique Salinas, the youngest brother of former Mexican president Carlos Salinas de Gortari, was found dead in a car on the outskirts of Mexico City on Monday, with a plastic bag tied over his head in an apparent murder, officials said.

Looks like Carlos pissed off some of the major Mexican drug lords.

Recipe for Mexican Justice.
Secure the arms and legs.
Secure an air-tight plastic bag over the head.
Inject insecticide into the bag.
>> This is generally a Columbian Cartel reward for disloyalty.

Navarrete Prida said, adding, "this investigation will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law."

Saying something like that guarantees a bigger mordida is all. We're letting this government dictate our immigration policies and homeland security --- giving their own identification papers as they please.
