Connecticut governor refuses to delay what would be the first execution in New England since 1960

HARTFORD -- Gov. M. Jodi Rell said Monday she will not interfere with plans to put a serial killer to death next month in what would be the first execution in New England since 1960.

"I have no sympathy for Michael Ross," the Republican governor said.

Ross, 45, is on death row for killing four young women in the 1980s and has admitted killing four other women. He is set to die by lethal injection Jan. 26.

The governor has no power to commute Ross' death sentence. The state constitution allows her, however, to grant a reprieve to postpone the execution until after the next legislative session, giving lawmakers a chance to repeal the death penalty.

Rell announced she would veto any effort to repeal capital punishment.

"I do believe that there are crimes and actions which are so repugnant to society as to warrant the death penalty," she said. "And this is such a case."

Do they even know how to do lethal injection? They will have to visit the experts here in Texas. They will show em' how.

The libs are hand wringing about this execution. Incredible that the Connecticut liberals care more about this repugnant assassin than the poor women that did not have a chance with this monster. Thank God that Governor Rell has the cojones to stand up to the crazed left and will not postpone this monster's death.

"Good for her!"

Hear! Hear! I thought I read somewhere that she was gonna go soft on this, I'm very glad she is not.

It's incredible that Connecticut liberals care more about the execution of this guy than HE does!

So, let's get this straight.
The governor says "Kill him!"
The victims families, no doubt, say "Kill him!"
The judge and jury said "Kill him!"
The murderer himself says "Kill me!"

And somebody's still out there complaining???

Yes, the Kerry-Edwards-Kennedy-liberals that have infiltrated our state. The Dems were so happy that former Gov. Rowland self-destructed but now they are mad because Gov. Rell has turned out to be stronger, smarter and more political savvy than they expected.

I see no compelling reason to spare the life of this societal monster. Apparently, the governor didn't either.

Just redefine him as an 8 - 1/2 month fetus and all the libs will be rushing to puncture his 'brain' cavity. Trying contacting 'Catholics' for Choice - I am sure they can find any number of eager volunteers.

Such a conflict of reason, isn't it?

I think Draino injections would be an excellent method.

She'll be very glad to hear that! Although cojones aren't all they're cracked up to be.

"Cool, over the next thousand years New England may catch up to Texas in executing serial killers."

Wouldn't count on it. The only reason this guy is getting executed is because he chose not to pursue any further appeals. The Dems were practically begging him to keep appealing. In CT (as in most Northeastern states), there is effectively no death penalty. They put people on death row for show, and then purposely drag out the appeals so they never have to actually execute anybody.

Now if such executions could be performed in a more timely manner.

His death will be peaceful and painless. Can you imagine the pain, fear, and terror of his victims? Not only should they go ahead with the execution, but I question why it should be so easy for the scum.
