Family, friends plead with jurors to spare Scott Peterson from execution
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Scott Peterson's brother, sisters-in-law and former schoolmates took the stand in the penalty phase of his capital trial Thursday and urged jurors not to sentence him to death for the murders of his pregnant wife and unborn son.
"I would be devastated. I can't even imagine. I'd be wrecked," said his half-brother, John.
Staring toward the defense table, he added, "My little brother, I love him."
Another witness, Aaron Fritz, a friend of Peterson since high school, said a verdict of death "would be a horrendous tragedy. It would be a terrible loss of a friend, of a brother figure in my life."

Okay, thanks Cheri!! I read cajun-jacks post and I DO remember the Manson case. He must have been sentenced to Life. Not Life without the possibility of parole.

Hi Fred. I heard them discuss today that whatever the sentence he will go to a "processing centre" likely at San Quentin. But he will be in a secure setting.
I think what happened was Manson had been given the death penalty, and then when the DP was declared unconstitutional, his sentence was commuted to life. I'm hazy on the details about the ruling on the DP, but I don't think California had the option at that time of sentencing someone to Life without possibility of parole.
I just saw on t.v. 5 min. ago, a report that Amber Frye has signed a multimillion dollar BOOK DEAL with Judith Regan !
In it she will describe her torrid affair with Scott Peterson, with details not brought up in court.
A lawyer interviewed, said that this could be cause for appeal, and if he had been Geregos , he would be making noise on WHEN this deal was cut. He said that Geregos was not allowed to cross ? (did I hear that right?), and that he could make a big stink of this, and that it would be huge in appeal.
I guess it is human to take the deal considering the money involved. Don't know too many people who could turn it down just to be righteous. But somehow it saddens me.
What a horrible nightmare for Sharon and family.
I think that that happens after the actual sentencing. San Quentin does have an "intake center" where newbies go for processing, even if their destination is another prison.

Geragos DID Cross examine her. I think she needs to be legally advised as to what she reveals in the evidentiary realm. It would be terrible if HE got out because of something she says. Somehow, I can't see it going that way. Some Defense Attorneys like to simply make noise.
Overall I agree with the way Texas does things. The one complaint I have with their system is the Clemency Board. If they NEVER plan to grant clemency to someone who has been rehabilitated, then they need to disband that Clemency Board and stop pretending that they are willing to show mercy in certain instances. Carla Faye Tucker was the one execution I didn't agree with. Of course if there is a cause to do DNA and someone is SHOWN to be falsely convicted I agree that they should do the DNA. The DNA issue only applies to certain cases tho, such as rape.
I don't think Amber should earn MILLIONS for sleeping with Scott Peterson either. She DID tremendously help this Prosecution take place and I don't think they would have gotten a conviction without the wiretap evidence and her cooperation,and I wouldn't deny her the right to write a book. However, the payment should be reasonable.
I'll bet Monica wishes she could have gotten Bill to ice Hill...a good book is worth a whole lot more than a handful of handbag sales.
