Today, December 5, 2004, Bluesagewoman was honored by the Military Retired Officers Association Chapter in Central Missouri. The Retired Officers, Captains, Colonels and Majors, recognized Bluesage at a formal dinner for her civilian support of serving military officers and enlisted personnel by her steadfast presention of a supportive voice in the community for the United States Armed Services. Bluesage was commended for her work in the creation and promotion of the "We Support our Troops Sign" drive and regular instances of supportive "protests" letting our troops and their dependants know that they are appreciated.
In accepting the Citizen of the Year Award Bluesage recognized the work of others who have stood with her (Prov3456, Zip & Mrs. Zip, Bogey, GulfWar1vet, The Snowflake and other non-Freepers) and helped drive home the message to everyone: that never again will American military personnel be made to feel unappeciated in their own land.
The author of this post - Dogrobber - wants to express his own pride in this public recognition of Bluesage's activities. I have the honor to be married to Bluesage and I have known her for close to twenty years. She deserved this recognition and I could not be more proud of her.
What a nice honor--congratulations to your wife & you!
Congrats! Some guys have all the luck.

bump!
On top of giving out an honor to Bluesage, the Officers passed the hat to send out Christmas packages to troopers in Iraq. They needed $300 for postage and in ten minutes there was $500 in the kitty. This was a good group; folks that knew how to get things done. Not surprising considering that they were military officers all.
Oh, and bye the bye, there is nothing in the world that looks better that a United States Marine Corp Formal Mess Uniform (IMHO). Sorry you Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard guys and gals; the Marines just got you beat in the field of fashion (although Bluesage says the navy blue and black do not match - but what does she know).
BlueSage is an outstanding citizen and a good friend. I know you are proud of your wife. She is wonderful ...
Ping!
Congratulations! WooHoo!!
AWESOME!!! Congrats!
Missouri FReeper ping!!!!
"...I could not be more proud of her."
As well you should! Congrats to you both.
WOW! Congratulations!!!! Ya sound a tad proud there! :)
Bluesage...I'm proud, really proud of you. And happy for you!
Ping.
Congratulations!
Bluesage, I am honored to know you. Thanks for all that you and Dogrobber do for our troops. You are a great American.
ping for an Infinite FReeper
Additionally, several family members of current military and veterans made it a point tonight to tell us how much our presence has meant to them over the years. Our group of Infinite FReepers is so great!! I am so proud of our military, our veterans, and our team, and it will be awhile until I calm down tonight.
There were so many people who deserved the honor for their work. One daughter of a MROA was sending packages to our troops, and raising money for the postage. There are several projects of this sort currently underway in our area that although I knew about the nomination, I wasn't worried about even being in the running. I was so stunned when they called about this banquet, I couldn't fathom why this small effort was getting so much interest. But, the fact is "visible" support out on the streets really means a lot to folks, for various reasons. It is another mechanism, and we've covered it. Our efforts have made a difference here.
So, like I said earlier at the dinner, on behalf of our whole team, we accept this award!! HooHoo FReepers!

Congratulations Bluesagewoman and the rest of the Missouri Freepers.
Great job and a well deserved honer.
