They didn't win the PAC-10. It's that simple.
Sep 4 at Air Force W, 56-14
Sep 11 vs New Mexico State W, 41-14
Sep 16 at Southern Miss Postponed
Oct 2 at Oregon State W, 49-7
Oct 9 at USC L, 23-17
Oct 16 vs UCLA W, 45-28
Oct 23 at Arizona W, 38-0
Oct 30 vs Arizona State W, 27-0
Nov 6 vs Oregon W, 28-27
Nov 13 at Washington W, 42-12
Nov 20 vs Stanford W, 41-6
I don't know about anyone else , but this schedule does not look to hard other than USC (which they lost). Texas schedule is much harder IMO.
Dec 4 at Southern Miss W, 26-16
I could care less about Cal, but they got screwed. #4 and you are not in the big money?
The system is bad and a few teams get screwed every year.
How many ranked teams did Cal Play?
How much less could you care, a little or a lot?
True, the system is crap. What I don't get is why Cal feels like they go "shafted" because UT got the bump with the same record. Someone had to get the shaft...
Hey Man, Baylor is tough.
Time for a playoff!!!!
Auburn got screwed more than anyone else. I know it's hard to justify changing the rankings of the top 2 teams when the teams that are #1 and #2 have been up there all season long and finished undefeated, but I've always said that the SEC is undoubtedly the toughest conference in the nation. Finishing 10-1 in the SEC is like being 11-0 anywhere else, and going 12-0 in the SEC means more than an undefeated season in any other conference.
Understand the sediment here - But one could argue in circles going simply by that - They beat who were in front of them and they played well enough to be ranked #4 up until earlier tonight -
And who is Texas biggest win over?? Texas A&M?? Who seems incapable of winning a big game...period..
Bottom line the BSC system is flawed....and Cal got the shaft because of the system......But then again, so did Auburn (they had the toughest schedule of the bunch).
When Oklahoma destroys USC you will see why. The Big 12 South makes PAC 10 look like high school football. Ok State beat UCLA 31-20 and USC squeaked by UCLA with a 5 point margin this weekend.
OSU would beat USC, and Texas would also. A&M may also. Tech will school Cal. Don't you just love this time of the year?
A&M should have received the Death Penalty for losing to the Bears.
Agree completely - I really think the Pac-10 / Big 10 feel should have been kept (if possible) for the Rose Bowl - (plus Cal is probably better than TX)
While Texas got shut out by the number 2 team OU.
