Another great film for the whole family. It deals with the search for freedom, a child escaping from the Communist bloc. BUT, it's not being released throughout the nation...just 14 states last I checked.

BUMP for important films.
Well of course Hollywood isn't going to do anything that would put a bad light on their hero Joe Stalin.
Oh yeah...Hollywood has a hard time making movies that depict the brutalities of Communism.
Hitler...yeah, but Stalin Lenin Castro Mao ad nauseum...hands off.
Another film that's going to take lots of action to get to WNY theaters.
The MSM and Hollywood establishment effectively buried Jim Caviezel's last film, "Bobby Jones". In fact, the leftie lib critic in my local paper, the leftie lib Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, rejoiced in one review that the audience on opening day consisted of himself and a scant few others. They were ecstatic that they helped bury this film with bad reviews, this film starring Jim Caviezel who had dared to go against their anti-religious ethics and portray Jesus Christ.
The only other film Hollywood produced, that even tried to criticize Stalin that I know of is "The Inner Circle."
McCullough: "If you could portray an historical biography and you had an unlimited budget, unlimited support cast and everything you could ask for, who would it be?"Asner: "Well, you know something, they've played Hitler, nobody has ever really touched Stalin, it just occurred to me. It's not because I am a liberal or anything like that. Stalin is one big damn mystery, I wonder why nobody has tried it? Many people, you know, speak of the fact that he killed more people than Hitler why does nobody touch him? It's strange. So, and he was about my size, my height with a wig I probably could do it."
Bump!
Actually Robert Duvall portrayed Stalin in an HBO made-for-cable movie a few years back.
Asner could play Beria well...he looks and behaves just like him.
I heard the interview Ms. Ingraham had with J.C. (wonder if that was a sign to Mr. Gibson!?)...
it was very good.
And, not suprisingly, the only listed limited opening venue in ALL of California
is in San Bernadino...
Hmmm...I might investigate taking a road trip just to see it on the big screen...
How telling!
Thanks for posting this column.
I just heard Laura Ingraham RAVING about this wonderful movie. She interviewed Jim Caviezel. She also kept making the point that it is suitable for children. Wonder if it will be on disc so that I can get it for my grandchildren who are prisoners in a public school.
Darn! I want to see this? No mention from the Television about this, not that I am suprised, I hope to see it..Looks great!
You are aware that there is speculation that Beria killed Stalin by poisoning him, when he got wind that Stalin was about to kill him and the rest of the Politburo. I saw a Russian-made documentary on Stalin, that allegedly had Beria telling the rest of the Politburo members, "I just saved all of you."
An excellent article that analyzes Hollywood's deliberate inability to tackle the Stalin horrors. (you have to read more than just the first few paragraphs)

But we get Ocean's 12 shoved down out throats from the media, I wouldn't see it because most of the actors I do not care for with the exception of Matt Damon a down to earth kind of guy.
This film looks wonderful
