Mfume On O'Reilly Factor (Says Why The IRS Should Investigate The NAACP)
FOX News ^ | 12/02/04 | FoxNews

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: Our "the top story" tonight, the president of the NAACP steps down. According to the "Atlanta Journal-Constitution" Kweisi Mfume's contract was not renewed. But he says he wanted out to spend more time with his teenage son. Mr. Mfume joins us now from Baltimore.

All right.

KWEISI MFUME, RETIRING NAACP PRESIDENT: Hi there, how are you?

O'REILLY: I'm ok.

MFUME: Good.

O'REILLY: I have to ask you these questions. We have a secret source inside the NAACP. All right. This is what our secret source said. It says you and Julian Bond (search) did not see eye to eye over his inflammatory anti-Bush rhetoric. Is that true?

MFUME: Well, I've been accused of making inflammatory Bush rhetoric, so I think more than anything else, what you probably are getting is a person's perspective. In fact, Julian and I have never really talked about his comments regarding the president at the convention, no...

O'REILLY: But compared to Bond, your rhetoric is like Dick Cheney (search), I mean, he's so over the top, so anti-bush, you, yeah, you took jabs at him but you're pretty moderate at least when you come on this program.

MFUME: Well, I have got a lot of respect for you. But I think in the heat of a campaign there's a lot said on both sides. Sometimes it may be over the top. Sometimes it's not. For me the important thing is to recognize as Americans, as we do, that once a campaign is over, it's over. And we find a way to build consensus to move on. And that was the real catalyst behind my letter to the president right after the election.

"But he says he wanted out to spend more time with his teenage son."

Which one? He has 5 boys from 5 different women. None of which he married.

An excellent role model for todays youth, black or white.

So, my quick read, looks like O'Reilly's still pretty much a tone-deaf idiot, and Mfume's still pretty much an idiot.

Did we learn anything new?

Saw the interview. It didn't accomplish much. Kweisi Mfume got away unscathed.

The Bush administration will do nothing about this because of the race card.

It's too bad he didn't aask him about Cosby's criticism of the black leadership and the whole "gangsta" culture that they defend (or at a minimum appease)!!!

Gee...is Queasey saying that he represented one side during the campaign??? Kind of make the NAACP's claim of non-partosanship a little hard to take, doesn't it?

Excellent summary. Thank you for saving me the trouble of reading the transcript. I'm sure it consists mostly of two inflated egos chest-bumping each other and making Tim-Allen grunts.

I can't believe the great bloviator let that pass without followup! Even someonr as in love with the sound of his own voice as O'Reilly should have caught that. As I read the transcript it jumped out me like a neon sign.

Yes, exactly so, only less contentful.

Queasy is out but not for the reasons cited. The truth will be that he has had an especially messy relationship with another female, maybe, one on the NAACP payroll and the paternity issues will embarass even the NAACP. Or, the has been financial chicanery, either internal, e.g., expense accounts, personal expenses billed to the NAACP, phantom employees/relatives on the payroll, or external, i.e., extorting white organizations to hire his friends or relatives or to make payments to have the NAACP go away.

However, Bond is a nasty, pompous piece of work. He would have been so perfect in a Kerry cabinet as the token black guy.

My bet is that the Queasy scandal will hit within 3 months or by March 1, 2005.

He has 5 boys from 5 different women.

I'm no sure if that's true, but if it is, I guess he's just trying to be a good Muslim.

I haven't searched a lot, but there seems to be some truth to it.

Some sources said "several" children by different mothers. Some sources said he has six children with no mention of the mothers.
