HOBART, Ind. - A woman's effort to assuage her 6-year-old son's fears of his grandfather's ghost by selling it on eBay has drawn more than 34 bids with a top offer of $78.

Mary Anderson said she placed her father's "ghost" on the online auction site after her son, Collin, said he was afraid the ghost would return someday. Anderson said Collin has avoided going anywhere in the house alone since his grandfather died last year.

It appears that this ghost lives in two different locations. The link below will take you to two auctions selling a cane and a ghost with almost identical stories. One auction is out of Hobart, Indiana at $14k...the other auction is out of Huntersville, North Carolina at $10k. The North Carolina auction mentions a 6 year old in the narrative while the Hobart, Indiana one mentions a 5 year old.

What exactly is being shipped?

Yeah, shouldn't a ghost be able to deliver himself?

Since the ghost seems to be scary, perhaps the mother could donate the ghost to the Klinton Lie-brary and Porno Bookstore in Little Krock. They might want a night watchman that works for free.

Good find. Looks like someone (or several people) are pulling at the ole heart strings with a BS sob story to get themselves some Christmas cash.

Can Ebay force the highest bidder to pay?

No. All they can do is suspend your account.

It's up to the seller to pursue any legal action.

That said, I don't think the mother should be rewarded for being unable to parent her child.

My mother died in the house she & I shared with my twin 5 year old daughters.

They went to the funeral as well.

Not once did they mention they were afraid of her ghost, since they never feared her in life.

Good thing too, or I probably would have caught them playing together at all hours of the night!

I cannot believe that this thing has gotten this out of hand. I think it's up to about $15,000. Others are now trying it.... it's becoming an eBay scam.

I always thought Boo-Berry looked kind of stoned.

Don't waste time re-reading, it has nothing to do with the thread. ;-)

Thanks for the info regarding Ebay.

I don't think that the mother should have tried to make money off of this, but I don't think there would have been anything wrong with having a friend or family member write a letter saying that Grandpa's ghost was living with them. The little boy will outgrow his fear soon enough and then they'll have a cute story to talk about when he gets older.

What I don't understand is that this auction started late yesterday afternoon. The story about this auction was written before the auction even started. Perhaps the seller and the press are in bed together, in an attempt to score some $$$$. No way will this transaction be valid in the end.

Description

Please help my 6 year old son find peace. In an effort to quell his fears, I am auctioning the ghost of my father (his grandfather). The winner will receive his well-used cane. I would like to ask you to write a letter after you've received the cane (and the ghost) to my son letting him know that he's there with you and you're getting along great. It is my hope that this will put an end to his restless nights. Thank you all for your help and heartfelt interest.

When my parent's bought some property in Vermont, many years ago, they bought an old trailer here in Connecticut & moved it up to Vermont. Now, my father, God love him, got a good deal on the trailer because the owner, an elderly man, had died of natural causes in the trailer.

Fast forward 10 years, my 1st husband I paid a visit to my parents at the trailer. I only had two sons then, was pregnant with #3. My two boys were 2 and 3 at the time. Had a nice visit, but when we got home, my very creative 2 yo, Danny, started telling my about his imaginary friend, Junebug. But since Junebug was only 2, he needed someone to take care of him, so Junebug lived with a nice man named Mr Klaussner.

I was really amazed at the detail of this whole arrangement, especially the name, explained to me as only a 2yo can do, so the next day, when I stopped by my parent's home, back in Connecticut, I was telling my mother all about Danny's imaginary friend Junebug and Mr Klaussner. Well, when I said "Klaussner", my mother's face went stark white. Seems that the name of the man who owned the trailer was, you guessed it, Mr. Klaussner.

Now, I never knew the man's name, no one ever mentioned it, how did my 2 yo son just happen to pick that name?? I've never really believed in the whole paranormal thing, but I'll admit, that event really had me spooked.

And we still go to the trailer in Vermont and kid about "Mr. Klaussner" acting up when we hear a mouse at night, or the woodchuck under the trailer putting on a midnight show, but I do get the feeling that Mr Klaussner is happy that someone is enjoying his old home.

FWIW

Dear Kid of Dead Grandpa,

The cane arrived in perfect condition, but I couldn't find a ghost packaged with it. I'm guessing the ghost of your Grandfather escaped from the package and is he is headed back to your house. Boy is he going to be pissed when he finds his cane is missing.

P.S. Have you ever seen the movie "Poltergeist"? I hear there are lots of houses, just like yours, that were built on old indian burial grounds. Ask Grandma if she knows what's under her house. Does she have a pool in the back yard? Ask her if there are any channels on her television that display only static. If you listen VERY closely to the static, you can hear voices! Tell Grandma about the voices you hear.

P.S.S. Tell Grandma that I plan on television and house shopping on eBay in the near future, in case she has any more auctions coming up. Hopefully I can find a nice house with a pool.
