WEAPONS TURNED IN, FOUND WITH LOCAL ASSISTANCE

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, AFGHANISTAN -- Local nationals turned in two weapons caches and Coalition Soldiers found another six caches throughout Afghanistan Thursday, Dec. 3

The Nesh District police chief turned in a weapons cache to Coalition Soldiers near Tarin Kowt containing seven recoilless rifles, 65 RPGs, 77 RPG boosters, one 7.62 M25 rifle and two RPG launchers.

In addition, a local national led Coalition Soldiers to a weapons cache near Shinkay. The cache contained 35 82 mm projectiles, 265 82 mm mortars, 104 boxes of Dishka machine gun ammunition, 37 mines, 29 mine fuses, four hand grenades, 28 grenade fuses, one bag and five cans of charges, 25 82 mm high explosive rounds, one 75 mm heat fuse, 128 M-6 rocket fuses, three 82 mm mortar rounds, and five bags of Dishka machine gun rounds.

Coalition Soldiers discovered a weapons cache near Bagram Air Field containing one 107 mm rocket, two 100 mm projectiles, two 82 mm recoilless rifle rounds and one 115 mm projectile.

Also near Bagram Airfield, Coalition Soldiers found four rockets. One of the rockets was in position to fire, but has since been neutralized.

Near Kandahar, Coalition Soldiers discovered two metal containers filled with weapons. Although the ammunition is still being counted, a partial inventory shows the cache contains six AK-47s, four rocket propelled grenades, three AK-72s, four recoilless rifles, one automatic grenade launcher, two PRK rifles, 91 120 mm mortars, six 107 mm rockets, 16 115 mm projectiles, 15 OG9 rockets, two 82 mm mortars, 11 100 mm artillery rounds and 31 fuses.

Near Zormat, Coalition Soldiers found a weapons cache containing 23 RPG rounds, two mines, one can of fuses, one radio receiver and one cassette tape.

Coalition Soldiers also discovered a weapons cache near Bamian containing 297 107 mm rockets, 480 75 mm recoilless rifles, 687 DK82 recoilless rifle rounds, 932 82 mm mortar rounds, five 12.7 mm machine guns and 11 mines. The cache was found in two caves in the Bamian area and the weapons were all in their original packing.

Near Asadabad, Coalition Soldiers found a weapons cache containing 400-500 mortar rounds, 100-200 120 mm rockets, 20-30 artillery rounds and an unknown amount of large caliber artillery rounds. A full count of the cache will be done after further investigation.

All weapons caches are secured and will be destroyed on a later date.

Considering the season I would assume this tape is a pirated copy of 'We wish you a merry jihad'
