Hundreds of letters and photographs are missing from the National Archives and its regional offices, including one presidential library. Many are suspected stolen.
The extent of the losses is detailed in a series of reports from the organization's investigative office, but the value of the items is difficult to determine because that is largely measured by historic importance and rarity.

"They should check Sandy Berger's pants."
A good bet especially for that FDR portrait (problem hanging in Bill's "LIE-BARY") but I doubt that old Sandy glad handed the Nancy Regan photo. Just not his kind of stuff.

theories as to where it went include old-fashioned theft and work crews accidentally sending it off to a landfill.National Archives = clown car.

Were I to engage in a little 'literary flair', I might say it seems Sandy walked out of the National Archives with some PDBs in his BVDs, and some classified docs in his socks."(Sen. Mitch McConnell)

CERTAINLY MY FIRST THOUGHT!
CHECK BERGER'S SHORTS.
His jock strap is too small.
Check his closet; his car and all his shoes.
Shoot. Just lock him up and move the contents of his house into the archives. Might save time and money.
