NEW YORK A cargo plane carrying 150,000 cartons of illegal cigarettes was detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport, authorities said.
Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms seized the cigarettes Tuesday morning as part of a nationwide effort to halt sales of contraband tobacco. Buyers of illegal cigarettes usually hope to avoid city, state and federal tobacco taxes, the ATF said.
The cargo airline, which was not identified, was cooperating with the government and no charges were expected to be filed.

Any bets on how much nose candy came in on Avianca the day of this bust?
If there's one thing we don't need, it's contraband cigarettes. Good thing the ATF was there to smoke 'em out... ;-)
Or how much Xtasy on El Al?
No one else thinks it's odd we have a "Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms." http://www.atf.treas.gov/

This better not be my cigarettes from Yesmoke.com Does anybody know?
Do the math - 150,000 X 10 X at least $1.50 tax = BIG BUCKS.
I'll bet there were ragheads involved in the trafficking too.
Now who do ragheads like to send money to?
Sleep tight, America. You're safe tonight from getting nuked by a pack of Marlboro Lights....
