HOUSTON -- Firefighters are on the scene of a huge explosion and fire near Fondren and South Main in Southwest Houston.
Residents reported feeling at least two explosion from miles away just before 6 p.m.
It appears to be some kind of manufacturing plant. It's not clear if there are any injuries.
A massive fire is burning at building on Fondren at South Main. There have been reports of an explosion. More details coming.

Massive fire after reported explosions at building in SW Houston

(12/03/04 - HOUSTON) A building in southwest Houston is burning after reports of an explosion.
The building is located on Fondren near South Main and the blaze can be seen for miles. At this point, it's not known what the contents of the building are.
Right now, we don't know of any injuries related to the explosions and fire. Both Houston police and firefighters are being told to stay back because they're not certain if chemicals are burning in the fire.
We have crews heading to the scene and will have the latest for you on ABC13 Eyewitness News.

Fox says the fire can be seen for miles, they dont' know what is in the building. It is in an industrial area.

Air 11 pilot Mike Silman first spotted the flames from the downtown area.
"We saw this thing when it happened -- huge explosion, I'm talking flames 100 feet or so in the air," Silman said.
It appears to be some kind of manufacturing plant. It's not clear if there are any injuries, but the fire department reports all employees are apparently accounted for.
Greg Ervin said he and his wife felt the explosion from 20 miles away.
"We were in the upstairs loft of our home in Inwood North and the blast vibrated our home and shook the windows," Ervin said in an e-mail to 11 News. "It sounded like a distant sonic boom."
