The bust of Edvard Munch near his grave in Oslo has now returned, as mysteriously as when it was sawn off and stolen in November.

In mid-November a passerby notified authorities that the bust of Munch was gone.

The bust had been restored on its stand in the grove of honor, near Munch's grave in Our Savior's Cemetery in downtown Oslo. The face had been brightened and the bust was wearing a tie.

Shortly after the bust was discovered missing in mid-November a pair of plaster casts apparently made using the bust were found in Oslo, one in the palace park and the other outside the Oslo National Institute of the Arts.

Jan Taraldsen, head of Our Savior's Cemetery, had just spoken to police about the case when he learned that the bust had returned.
