My Mother received anb e-mail today with the sender listed as " Suffocating G Colleen" When she read it the only thing written in the e-mail was " Bhopal". Mom is worried because today is the anniversary of some sort of disaster in Bhopal India where a lot of people were gassed. She just called me to say that about an hoour ago there was a false alarm of it happening again and also something in Ireland. What do you think this is? Just SPAM, or something more worriesome?
OK. Let me try. "4". Honest question, e-mail, asking for help, I can understand it but a vanity nonetheless.
Never never never open anything from a stranger.
She might want to run her virus scan too.
Never open SPAM.
Sometimes they include nothing in there except a 1x1 pixel graphic that alerts the SPAMmer that the e-mail was opened -- and who viewed it.
I've been getting a lot of "409 scam" e-mail from the same address today.
Today is the 20th anniversary of the Union Carbide leak of 40 tons of poison gas.
I believe at least 10,000 Indians were killed and over half a million injured.
It wasn't an attack.

Hey, she's new at this e-mail stuff. I already ran her a virus scan.
Tell her to run a virus scan before she does anything else.

Just out of curiosity, what is "409 scam" e-mail?
It boggles my mind how many people open emails from strangers and get a virus. You would think that by now people would realize what is going on. I know a person who has had 4 viruses in the last 2 months because she opened email from someone she did not know and downloaded an attachment.
I got one that just said "Ru Paul"
Not opening that either!
Someone offers to sell you a lifetime supply of 409 Cleaner, and then when you pay, you never get it.
Usually, this scam runs out of Nigeria.

If you ever suspect you have a virus that has not been discovered, please send a copy to the AVERT team (McAfee's Emergency Response Team). They are always wanting to find new viruses to keep them from growing in number.

What is the connection between an email saying "Bhopal" and "something in Ireland"? Also, in response to another poster, a lot of people were killed at Bhopal but not hundreds of thousands and not a half million injured. If anyone wants to post the real #'s I defer to them. I think the number killed was around 10,000 or less.
I keep getting one that tells me that I need to update my paypal account that I don't have, I'm not opening that one either.
My stepmother forwards everything to me along with every e-mail address of everybody she knows. I never forward anything. I send individual people individual e-mails.
