I read right here on FR, that we would "hold his feet to the fire" after he got in.
Let's see what happens.
I also recall reading many who were convinced that after Bush's re-election he'd finally be able to govern like a true conservative (rather than merely a "compassionate" one), especially if the GOP picked up a few congressional seats.
Har.
Sorry but I'm sure you'd like to believe that but he hasn't changed his position on his Guest Worker program proposal. He actually reintroduced it last January but it floated like a brick in the Congress back then. So please, don't pretend this is something new he deviously sprung on Conservatives all of a sudden.
Some of us around here have been discussing this and raising public awareness on this for at least that long if not longer. His very own patsy, Texas Jr. Senator John Cornyn, actually introduced it for him to the Senate back in July of the previous year and is still carrying his water for it for him there.

If you feel as strongly about this as I do, then you will agree that there's no time like the present to get started. I believe that GWB will continue doing a great job on national defense and the war, but, as we all know, we also need to start shifting some resources to beefing up our border security. How do we do this?
