I work with a fella named Dave who has twin step-sons in Iraq. One of the step-sons (Kris) and a buddy (Jason) are writing to Dave and keeping him abreast of activities in Iraq. I thought you might be interested in hearing their retelling of events as they live them and even send a letter to them if you'd like. I have been given the approval to go ahead and post the personal e-mails from the step-son (Kris) and his friend (Jason-the couch lover) if this idea is well received.
Let me know if you're interested in my posting their e-mails to Dave as Dave forwards them to me.
I'd love to hear from them! Please post whatever they have to say. FReep mail me if you'd like.
Great idea..if its ok with the twins! I'm not sure how an average American like me could email or write to Marines and soldiers who may not get much mail. Anyone know?
I would love to read what they have to report. Please post it and add me to your ping list if you create one. Thanks!
Post away! If their account is interesting, they will surely draw some responses.
I'd love it!
The "friend" Jason is better at keeping in touch than Dave's own step-sons, but he considers Dave and the twins mom as his own. He even calls her mom.
This is their 2nd time in Iraq.
We had a special event here at work (large Aerospace company in So. California) with a special speaker: One of the original Navajo Code Talkers. Dave had his two step-sons (twins) and their buddy with him, fresh back from Iraq, in the audience. So an H.R. rep. introduces them. They stood up to a large hall full of employees clapping for them. We all had tears in our eyes. They are now back in Iraq for their 2nd stint and trying to do their best and still come home alive.
I would love to read their emails.
Please add me to your ping list.
Tell me how to make a ping list. I have to know everyone's FR name right? Or is there some better systematic way of doing it?
From Dave to me (LibertyLass) on 11/23/04:
Kris is my step-son and jason is his buddy.....When they spent their R&R at our house Jason loved my couch. He wouldn`t even sleep in a bed. This is the first e-mail when they got back to Iraq.
dave whats going on? right now me and kris are in bakubah at camp warhorse waiting to go into normandy. we had to spend the night here and pick up the next convoy leaving at 2 o'clock today. our whole platoon is in fallujah right now, and i heard that two days ago they shipped out a bunch of people on a chinook who just got back from r & r. i hope i don't have to go, i heard they attacked the city today. people who just got back from there said it was crazy. there is so many soldiers and mortars rounds are coming into their camp like every 5 seconds. literally! glad i'm not there. well take it easy, tell mom is said hi and i'll be back for my couch before you know it. Jason
ping me baby....
how does one create a ping list? I want to know too, please?
Your title is kind of confusing. are the 2 soldiers Iraqis or Americans?
Ping to me. Thank you!
Date of the 1st e-mail, above, was 11/7/04
Hang tight folks, I'll get the hang of this so it's easier for you to follow....L.L.
well i'm back in normandy now and all the fightings kicked off so it appears we may have missed it. i really don't want to go there but if any of my friends get it i wish i could have been there with them. there is a really big rumor going around that our battalion sergent major got killed in fallujah. everyone is saying it and my buddy said that the chaplin told him it was true. we'll just have to wait and see if it is.yesterday was pretty crazy, i re-hurt my back. i was lifting in the gym a few days before i went on leave and hurt it a little bit and now that i've gotten back i figured it had enough time to heal but now i think it's worse than before. also yesterday the towers right by our bunker came under attack, for a good few all you could hear was gunfire and rpg's going off. now that everyone's in fallujah they're probably gonna go for us more. i heard that down here during the election time on nov. 2 it was crazy. the whole couple weeks before that everyone was getting attacked but thankfully no one got hurt. i'll talk to you later
Jason
Response back to Jacon from Dave:
Thanks for keeping us informed, were glued to the news channels here. Hope you and Kris miss the show at F-Town. But if you end up there remember don`t search any buildings you haven`t put HE in first. Were praying for you guys every day. Get back on the couch were its safe. Love you guys....David
AMERICANS in Iraq. Sorry for the confusion. Is there some way to change my title so it's not confusing?
"I Fought in Iraq and All I Got Was This Shitty Necklace Yo yo yo. One good thing did come from this day. While we were medevac'ing the wounded Air Force guy, I found on the road part of the grill with the VW emblem on it from the car bomb (quite a ways from the point of detonation) which I now sport ghetto fabulously. If you are the Air Force guy who was wounded by this car bomb, email me, I'd love to give you this emblem. (This photo by MOB)" www.justanothersoldier.com I just had this sent to me by my Korean Vet Marine friend...
