Anybody watch the special 2-hour Tom Brokaw Retrospective this past Friday night? Me neither. But today we celebrate the reason for the big deal: the retirement of Tom Brokaw after 20 years anchoring NBC Nightly News. Tonight's broadcast will be his last sit-down at the anchor desk!
Brokaw saw himself has unbiased: "The idea that we would set out, consciously or unconsciously, to put some kind of ideological framework over what we are doing is nonsense." (on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, 5/25/01) While it is true that Brokaw may have spent less time in the crosshairs of media bias activists than his colleagues, Dan Rather and Peter Jennings, he certainly spread liberal bias in his own fashion.
Tom Brokaw frequently managed to fly under the radar of media bias activists, not by being less biased, but by being less outrageous than his brethren at the other broadcast networks. Nonetheless, his name came up often enough that we were pleased to learn recently that he found the activists' activities incredibly irritating.
We are also delighted at the prospect of Brokaw's retirement and urge him not to let the screen door hit him on the backside. Email Brokaw your retirement wishes.

Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!
The prissy chump was a perfect match for the "peacock" network.
LOL!
Bye, bye Tom. I won't miss NBC Nightly News...as I've not watched any network news in over 10 years.
I did really love "The Greatest Generation"...wonderful book.
(Have you looked for them in your mouth?)
Dear Tom,
I will not miss your drunk liberal stupid butt.
Bye

CBS did seem to have more of a hatred toward Bush than the others but was really about the same in overall bias.
Learn how to say: "Lillehammer, Norway."
I also think Moe was the smartest Stooge.
I like how Rush handled Brokaw's retirement. In his "tribute", Rush played only soudbites that included him! (Rush)
I couldn't stand the sound of his voice!!
Hey Tom, I hope there's a lot of hunting on the property next to yours in Montana.
A mail-man is set to retire and on his last day of rounds he received numerous gifts: a fishing pole, cigars, etc... He comes to one house and a beautiful blonde lady is standing there and asks him to come in. She smiles, takes him by the hand, takes him upstairs to the bedroom, starts disrobing, undressed him and, well, you know.
When they are done she tells him to take a shower and come downstairs. There is a big breakfast waiting for him, it is a fantastic meal pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh squeezed orange juice. When he is done she pours him a cup of coffee; when he picks it up there is a $1 dollar bill under the cup.
He is a little surprised; he says - you know this morning was just great; I feel like I did on my honeymoon, upstairs was the best, the breakfast was outstanding, but what is it with the $1. She says Well I told my husband it was your last day and you were retiring and we should get you something, my husband said screw-him give him a dollar. The breakfast was my idea.
The 9/11 Commission also has come to some conclusions about the link, or the absence of it, between Iraq and al-Qaeda....The Commission is sharply at odds with what leading members of the administration continue to claim. Tom Brokaw on the June 16 NBC Nightly News.
