So if religion is ever to be fully annihilated from our Brave New World, a new system of dating is required. The solution being promoted in academic circles the World over is the Common Era or CE system. CE is just like AD, except it is 100% God-free! Everything from 1 AD forward is now the Common Era, while everything before 1 AD is now Before the Common Era or BCE. Common, in this case, meaning vulgar -- which is, after all, what religion is to the elite. No matter how you slice it, Jesus still split time in half :)

Satan will be tobogganing in his backyard long before my children will be subject to this anti-Christian zealotry.
I'd say it's time that Leftists took some of their own medicine and respected diversity by stopping their constant assault on all things Christian.
Even the best of us will only turn our cheek so much.

This will continue until the Body of Christ enters the arena and confronts them at every turn of their very bad ideas.
The power of the Gospel is its own light of eternal truth, an demonstrable power of the living God to change our lives for the betterment of life and liberty.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD

When your kid's teachers bring up BCE and CE, teach them that it really means Before Christ's Emancipation (of the world), and Christianity Emerged.
Since the start point, Year One, is still pegged at the birth of Christ it makes logical sense.
The global left will need to be more clever than that.

This BCE crap has been out there for over a decade now in academia and believe it or not, it is not taken hold. Only the most ardent anti-Christian will hold students to saying BCE in their class and most of the teachers and professors prefer to us AD and BC. Its actually a good marker between old and new cultures.

Thank you for that awesome piece! The death and resurrection of Christ is the single most earth changing event in all of history. The bible speaks of the times we are experiencing now. It seems ever closer to His return and all we can do is spread His message of salvation and reconciliation to as many as possible, knowing that it will fall on many deaf ears. But the real battle has been played out already, victory has been won and Satan lost. The saved have nothing to fear, not even today's unveiled hatred for God and all things right and good. We know this pure hatred would be set upon us:
Matthew 24:9
"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.
John 15:18
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
Regardless of what is said about and done to us now, He went to the cross to make sure that our eternity would be spent with our Creator. To God be all the glory!

Every time I see 1 CE, I think "Continuing Ed". I need to take 12 CE credits each year to keep my license.
I remember learning that metric was taking over, too..that was 30 years ago. Just keep saying "BC" & "AD" and don't forget to wish people a "Merry Christmas!!"

This "common era" stuff has been going on for years. The ridiculous thing about it is that BCE and CE still both pivot around the purported birth of Christ, no matter what they choose to call it. This academic fig leaf is just another example of the idiocies of political correctness. And just what is it that makes the "common era" the common era?

There is a great deal of anti-Christian bias masquerading as some kind of "multiculturalism" or whatever out there.

So until Liberals can actually change our society so much that the old dating system can be scrapped entirely and time measured from some more appropriate event, such as the birth of Barbara Streisand, the Roe v. Wade ruling, or the day Michael Moore first crested 300 pounds, theyll just have to settle for childishly crossing out the name of Christ in the current system.
ROTFLMAO

I'm glad I did a search on this as I was just going to post it - absolutely absurd, not to mention scary. I am only awakening to the reality of just how much Christianity is under attack.

I mean, why should a Bantu historian have to be assaulted with the dead white male D in AD every time he reads a Western text? Which dead white guy are we talking about?

Given that the number of the year is based on Christ's (supposed) birth year, this changes nothing fundamental in the calendar. However, Anno Domini has a certain tributary quality to Christ Himself. So the basis of the calendar is unchanged but there is no longer an implicit glorification of Christ's name in A.D. or B.C.
As for "Common Era", what is the commonality? I see nothing about the Roman empire, the diaspora or anything else in the history of the period that denotes a commonality. Nothing except the birth of Christ, a Jew.
The source of this supposedly new assualt on A.D. isn't really that new. I first encountered the usage at least fifteen years ago and it seems pretty widespread in academic literature. It seems the main point of the article is to warn parents that children's textbooks are finally changing to the new nonsensical nomenclature.
