The problem is that generally the wing of the boomers that leans Republican has the same authoritarian 'we-know-what's-best' and selfish 'give-us-our-check-we-earned-it' streak that the left wing has.
Yep, That's why even with so called small government Republicans in charge we get things like No Child left behind, CFR, Prescription drug benefits, Smoking bans, Tubby Tommy's war on Obesity, and a $500 Billion dollar deficit.
Unfortunately just because a Boomer has an (R) after their name, it doesn't mean they aren't any different than the rest of that "I'm the center of the Universe and I know best" generation.
