The Democrats Go Scouting For A Savior

Win and the world smiles with you. Lose in politics, and you're a bum. So it's no wonder that the loudest Bronx cheer in Washington goes to lame-duck Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, who has presided over two disastrous election setbacks in 24 months. "Terry McAuliffe proved that raising money isn't enough," says Democratic moneyman Andrew S. Rappaport, a general partner at August Capital Associates LP in Menlo Park, Calif. "[He] is the person who is most responsible for the predicament the Democrats are in."

That may be a bit hyperbolic, but as the Dems try to pick up the pieces after a shattering election, they're looking to replace McAuliffe in February with a party boss who not only talks a big game but actually delivers. Indeed, the crowded campaign for DNC chief is fast becoming a battle for the future direction of the party -- not to mention a possible early test for putative 2008 Presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

UNDATED Defeated Texas Congressman Martin Frost is being mentioned as a possible chairman for the Democratic National Committee.

More than 100 state party leaders plan to meet December ninth through the eleventh in Orlando, Florida, for the association's annual meeting.

Democrats will vote at their February meeting in Washington on a replacement for Terry McAuliffe, who's not seeking another term.

Frost lost in his November second re-election bid to Republican Congressman Pete Sessions.

Redistricting landed the longtime U-S House members in the same Dallas-area district.

The Associated Press reports other names being mentioned for the D-N-C job are:

-- former Vermont Governor Howard Dean

-- New York businessman Leo Hindery Junior

-- and Donnie Fowler, who directed John Kerry's successful Michigan campaign this year.

His father, Don Fowler, is a former D-N-C chairman.

- In the wake of the Democrats' stunning presidential election defeat, Donna Brazile has been suggested as a possible candidate to replace outgoing Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe.

But in an interview with the Amsterdam News, Brazile, a political strategist who ran Al Gore's presidential campaign in 2000, said that she doesn't want the job.

"I'm honored to be on anyone's list," said Brazile, 45. "I want to rebuild the Democratic Party, but I have no interest in the job at this time."

A pretty sad list...Frost..well, he lost his caucus's vote for minority leader, then he lost his seat, so let's pick him as the national face, and voice of the Dem party for the next two years..that's brilliant...(NOT)MP<' It's a sad grab bag of chocies they have.. The ONE person, IMHO, who could make it work..I haven't seen his name mentioned..Harold Ford..

"[He] is the person who is most responsible for the predicament the Democrats are in."

They have no clue.

Their idle billy, who disgraced the The Peoples House and the Office of the Presidency, is to blame.

They don't get it,they never will.

Heeheehahahahaha.....after this fiasco, the only way that publicity hound McAwful is going to get any camera time is if he turns queer and marries a fellow tailgunner, like his buddy Doug 'Fish Face' Hattaway did......ah, I love it.

Garbage in, garbage out. It doesn't matter who this party's front man is. He/she is still selling the same pile of crap.
The Democratic party can't reform itself. Let them "think" all they want to. It will do them no good, because they aren't willing to take a serious look at themselves. They're even less willing to change.
