But when she returned home to find the locks changed, she had to accept that she had been abandoned.Yikes.

What a terrible thing for a 14 year old to realize. Sheesh! What's into people?!

Man, what in the Unholy Hell

See at first I thought "mum" had run off with the 14 year

Well, who can blame the woman. Maybe she was in love. Maybe she needed to "find herself". Maybe she just needed some "me time". Why let a child stand in the way of you and self fulfillment?

The hottest place in hell should be reserved for those who abuse or neglect a child.

Hmmm.
Is the mother's "lover" a woman? Just a wild guess.
Were this an American article, I would be sure of it. Nobody in the news media uses the word "lover" like this. Conceivably it's different in the UK however.

I've tears in my eyes thinking about this poor child.
God help her. She lost her dad, and was completely abandoned by her mother.
Dear Lord, please help her to stay sane, safe and strong.

some people should just tear up the parent card and get their tubes tied. I hope this 39 year old woman who gave birth to Chloe will refrain from ever having any more children she can abandon at some point.

Just goes to show what kind of a world we live when the mother can run off and leave her daughter to fend for herself. This so-called mother should get jail time for willful abandonment and child neglect.

What a horrible, sad story. Hopefully this child's half-sister will help her to realize she is loved. The mother does not deserve to have a kid.

Officers from the family support unit have been holding joint strategic meetings with social workers.
Great fiddling while Rome burns and on the taxpayer dime no less.
Throw the Mom and the Lover in the clink for about 10 years and find a good loving Christian family to help this poor girl get on with whats left of her life. The pain will never go away.
