Appeals court overturns sentence in Macalester child porn case

The state Court of Appeals on Tuesday reversed the up to 61/2/-year sentence of a Macalaster College student caught with thousands of pornographic images of children on his dorm room computer.

The three-judge appeals panel upheld the charges against Joshua S. Bertsch but said the sentence imposed on him last year was too severe. The appeals court said Bertsch was entitled to a new sentence.

I wonder if he's also being charged under the federal Child Pornogrpahy Prevention Act (1996) and its amendments? If not, somebody needs to wake John Ashcroft up.

our lib judges probably don't try to enforce anything
passed by anyone associated with the Bush administration

"The matricula is used for such transactions as opening bank accounts, cashing paychecks and obtaining marriage licenses, even for those who are here illegally. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul accept the matricula, and both have ordinances prohibiting city employees from asking people who use city services about their immigration status."
