". . . some friends and allies advise against placing bets that the former first lady will be the nation's 44th president."
Read it again. They could be saying that she'll run and lose!
Remember that Hillary won't dare stand up and wave at a Yankee game, where the 90% male audience would boo her unmercifully. This in the heart of the bluest city in a very blue state.
The politician with THE highest negatives among white males is not the solution for the Democrats nationally. I'd love to see her run.
When Hillary proclaimed she was a conservative, evangelical Christian she proclaimed her candidacy. Otherwise she would be giving us the finger.
And which county would that be?
Looks like Hillary's gonna be mighty busy with her Extreme Makeover. The question is---in light of the resounding 2004 Values Voters Victories---how "conservative" will Hillary get? .....hehe!
That's gonna be SOME kinda makeover there!! :^O

If Rudy runs against her in '06 it won't matter...
Also, we must all work diligently in the coming months to convince progressives that the Democratic Party has let them down. They must abandon the party. Their only recourse is to join and work for the Green Party moving forward. I may even register as a Green Party member to swell their voter registration rolls. Divide and conquer.
Begin with putting all known progressives in your sphere of influence on the Green Party mail list from their website. Great fun. Start inundating them with information now.
(Maybe one of our cleverest FReepers will photoshop Hillary's face on the cookie baker.)
Now, why would you want to subject this poor child to that kind of abuse?
thag
You're right about that. Once again a 'leading' Democrat demonstrates she cannot be elected by being authentic. If Hillary runs representing what she **is** as opposed to what she wants us to believe, then she will be soundly defeated. This poppycock about being an evangelical is SO transparently false as to be comical.
Absolutely! The next Presidential campaign won't even start to roll for another two and a half years. Nobody is going to remember what she says today. (except Freepers, that is)
She's running, I'd bet on that, but she won't be the 44th POTUS and I'd bet on that too.
She's a BI***, and America knows it.
She will not win! As badly as I want a woman to be president...I would chew off my own foot before I would cast my vote for her.
'WE' are Buckhead!
Outside of the liberal blue states what support does she have?
Think of all the scandals that will be rehashed when her hubby was in office, and let's not forget a suicide and some record books laying on a table.
Hillary's run will energize the consevative base again, and give the Dems another beating that they sorely deserve.
The pubbies need Hillary to run in '08.
Reporting for Duty!
If I remember right she and Bill danced on the egos and pocket books of some pretty powerful contributors when they left office. They made some enemies, lost important friends, used people and toss'ed them aside.
She may not be garnering the support she needs to make a run. Plus the likelihood of the US accepting a woman at the helm during a WOT is not good.
If she doesn't run, she has two years of being a one-time senator from a blue state. Worse than John Edwards, at least he was from the South.
She can't win.
Just watch her voting and speaking--if she swings right, she's running.
America is not yet ready for a female president. Nor for a black president.
The day will come when it won't matter wether they're male or female, black or white.
But not yet.
I could not disagree more. America has shown it will support any person who gives the public something to believe in. The problem for most females and minorities in public service: The socialist / liberal / pseudo-progressive machine fights the progress for anyone not in the socialist / liberal / pseudo-progressive plantation.
President George W. Bush has supported the progress of minorities in high level positions in government more than any other President. The reason his appointees are fought so hard is they tend to be self made individuals. One of those will break through soon and be either President or Vice President.
