And it also comes out right now..this after how many times kofi-cup has given speeches and called the US actions illegal. But now that Jeff Flake from AZ is recommending that funds are withheld from the UN they all of a sudden have this new attitude.

I don't buy it. These clowns have been sponging off our tax dollars too long and they have to go. They are more of a hindrance than a help, and they haven't done any country on earth any good for way, way too long.

UN needs to stick to humanitarian aid and that's it.

They can't even do that (OFF scandal)...

The problem seems to be that many on the left and in the "multilateralist" movement see themselves as "citizens of the world" and see the UN as the objective arbiter of world disputes. But the many shortcomings of the UN, and many of its mambers, are well-known to the readers on this board, so I won't repeat them all here.

Nothing on Earth is perfect. Utopia does not exist. Actually, it is the US, NOT the UN, which is the force for peace and justice in the world, IMHO. But other countries like France are resentful, and part of their stated policy is to oppose us merely for the sake of opposing us.

What do we teach our own young people about this country? I would bet that many history and "civics" textbooks, and teachers/professors, are hopelessly slanted to the left. So is it really the fault of young people why some think the way they do? It's fed to them.

I know what I believe. But I think it's useful once in a while to try to figure out why others think differently, so we can counter them more effectively and change more minds.

How can you do a pre-emptive strike when you have to spend 6 wasted months trying to convince France through the public media to vote for it.

Understood! But they needed the oil for food kickbacks, and Saddam needed time to hide the WMD's.

I agree. So far, the best explanation I've been able to construct for the differences between lib thinking and conservative thinking is that libs approach the world as if their wishes were reality, where conservatives approach the world the way it really is.

e.g. Libs wish that there were no truly evil people in the world, and are convinced that this is so, which leads them to speak and act as if this were reality.
