Gaza: Father and son to die for aiding Israel

A Palestinian court on Monday sentenced a father and son to death for helping Israel carry out a failed assassination attempt against a Hamas leader, Palestinian officials said.

The Gaza criminal court earlier convicted Mohammed Abu Ganas, 53, and his son Rami, 22, of providing information to a foreign country and harming Palestinian interests.

The father and son were arrested last December. In April, the court said, the two were heard confessing to a journalist that they aided Israeli intelligence in setting up an attempt on the life of Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi on June 10, 2003. That attempt failed, but Rantisi was killed in another Israeli air strike on April 17.

The sentence must be confirmed by the president of the Palestinian Authority before it could be carried out.

Before his death, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat approved several death sentences and commuted others. After his death on Nov. 11, Parliament Speaker Rauhi Fattouh took over as interim president. An election to replace Arafat is set for Jan. 9.

Often armed gangs kill suspected collaborators in summary executions, sometimes hanging their bodies in public squares as a warning. Human rights groups have criticized the Palestinian Authority for allowing executions after brief military trials.

The Gaza court also sentenced three others to 10 years imprisonment collaborating with a foreign country.

How could they provide information to another country if that country was Israel?...
There is no such country as Palestine or Gaza.

and harming Palestinian interests.

How is trying to kill a Hamas leader "harming" the PA's "interests" unless they are joined at the hip wth Hamas? The lies and deceit are all around them but the Left and eurotrash will not see it.

"The Gaza criminal court earlier convicted Mohammed Abu Ganas, 53, and his son Rami, 22, of providing information to a foreign country.."

There's no such country as "Palestine" and never has been. Therefore the PA is not bound by "little" things like international law. This is one reason a Pali state would be helpful. A Pali state would be bound by international law and could be branded a terrorist state for executing people who help take out terrorists. That is the reason Pali terrorists do NOT want an independent state and constantly derail any plan for one. How else could they carry out the real plan of destroying Israel?

The Israelis should help such people out. They could refuse to let the executions take place. They should encourage Arabs who really help them.

Geez, it is a good thing these dumb Palestinians haven't noticed the Reuters' journalists sort of tip-toeing away right before an IDF strike. The Reuters guys in Teheran and Saudi are often able to provide the most useful information.

Right now, the Israelis are collecting background information on the top Palestinian leaders and on the 3 to 5 guys that would succeed each should something terrible befall the top guy. Once things begin to settle, they'll begin targeting the badest and by eliminating selectively, get a group that can be dealt with. But, we KNOW that the information provided by the Reuters "journalists" is essential.

And the French are constantly bemoaning the death penalty in the US. How do they explain their support for the Palestinians?
