Supreme Leader : Iran will never overlook national right to nuclear technology

Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran has developed nuclear technology as a national industry and will never overlook its rights to civilian nuclear technology. In a meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the Supreme Leader said that abandoning nuclear technology for civilian purpose is Iran's red line and that Iran-EU accord on the nuclear program has been made in line with Iranian red line. "The Americans and the western powers know for certain that Iran never goes after acquiring nuclear arms. The propaganda against Iranian nuclear program aims to force Iran to abandon nuclear technology which has become a national industry in Iran," the Supreme Leader said. The Islamic Republic of Iran has left behind a variety of military and political confrontations in the past 25 years thanks to the strong spirit of the people and national solidarity and that the Iranian nation will never fear the threats being posed by the bullying powers, the Supreme Leader said. 1416 / 1412 : :IRNA No.057 29 / 11 / 2004 16 :00 --End

Have they yet tried to come up with an explanation for why they need "civilian" nuclear power when they're swimming in oil?

Iran has developed nuclear technology as a national industry and will never overlook its rights to civilian nuclear technology.

"Any doctrine of group activities that does not recognize individual rights is a doctrine of mob rule or legalized lynching... A nation that violates the rights of its own citizens cannot claim any rights whatsoever.  In the issue of rights, as in all moral issues, there can be no double standard."  -- Ayn Rand in "Collectivized 'Rights' ""Man's Rights" begins on page 108, and "Collectivized 'Rights' " on page 118 of  THIS BOOK.

The Rights of Society has always sounded odd, like fingernails on a blackboard. Like saying that morality transcends the individual.

There is a state, but there is also a gov't and the gov't is nothing but an institution set up and run by individuals. Those individuals may have rights and morality, but their institution does not. If Iran has a right to nuclear weapons [not mentioned in the statement] then their neighbors do also. Michael Bakunin would be annoyed by this, but then, he was annoyed from birth.

Chavez is in Iran, plotting an Iran/Venezuela (anti-Israel?) consortium, and in talks On OPEC policy.

We need to keep an eye on Iran and Mexico.

Vincente Fox is anxious to forge an alliance with the Iranian Mullahs; perhaps for fomenting mischief (big time, that is) against the USA!
