HARRISBURG -- Ed Rendell's chaotic management style might have worked for him when he was Philadelphia's mayor, but as governor it's causing serious problems.
His critics say he sends mixed signals, waits too long to get personally involved in key issues and doesn't say no when he means no.
The end result: a relationship with a Republican-controlled Legislature that's verging on open warfare.
How bad is it? ''F you, governor. You're a liar,'' Senate President Pro Tem Robert C. Jubelirer snarled during a late-night meeting that ended the legislative session. ''You're a liar. Your staff are liars. F you.''
Republican Jubelirer jabbed his finger toward Rendell's chest, cursing the Democratic governor while other legislative leaders and their top staff looked on, jaws agape. ...

If not for that ugly blot on the ground PA would be a solidly red state.
He may be a jerk -- but guys, watch your language in public!
If our Republican Gov-elect Rossi loses his 42 vote margin in a recount and Democrat Christine Gregiour is sworn in in Washington State - I want to get Senator Jubelirer to transfer to Washington.
We might need someone like that to shape up the far too entrenched and devious Democrats.
"Governor, do the letters F.O. mean anything to you?"
Perhaps. But I spent enough time in Western PA and "DA Burgh" to realize that without the gun issue, those areas could easily go blue. A lot of ding-a- lings cannot accept the demise of the steel industry. A lot of infighting among the ethnic groups.
My ex-wife was from Midland PA. I know the drill.
Not true. The 5 suburban Philly counties have been trending democrat in recent years, and went strongly for Rendell. These counties went for Kerry this election. The pubbie party in these counties needs to get a good ground game going. I didn't have a single call from the Republicans in this last election, but I had 5 from democrats, and I am registered as a Republican. What gives with that ?
As big as the Philly Dem advantage is, it's the Philly suburbs that put Gore and Kerry over the top AND elected Rendell. Dems have been getting big Philly margins for over a half century, yet Republicans have often won the Senate seats, the governorship and PA's electoral votes. The difference in this century has been increasing Democratic nature of the inner suburbs. Basically, as people flee the wreck that Democrats have made of Philly, they stupidly move in to GOP areas and then vote for more idiot Democrats. But even they wouldn't have voted for a Philly mayor if it wasn't for Rendell's masterful con job of suburban voters, especially sports fans. He (and Snarlin' Arlen) spends an inordinate amount of time on sports radio WIP working on the Eagle fan base in the suburbs.
Enough said.
