La Raza WELCOMES NOMINATION OF GONZALES TO SERVE AS ATTORNEY GENERAL
La Raza ^ | La Raza

Posted on 11/28/2004 10:40:49 AM PST by hsmomx3

Washington, DC – The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., today welcomed President Bush’s nomination of White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales to succeed John Ashcroft as Attorney General. If confirmed, Gonzales would be the first Hispanic ever to serve as Attorney General.

“We are very encouraged by the Gonzales nomination. We previously criticized the Bush Administration for not having an Hispanic in the cabinet since the departure of former HUD Secretary, now Senator-elect, Mel Martinez. We are pleased that one of the first acts since the President’s reelection both rectifies that situation and marks an historic milestone for the Latino community. Never before has an Hispanic served as head of one of the four major cabinet posts – Secretary of State, Treasury, Defense, and Attorney General,” stated Janet Murguia, NCLR Executive Director and COO.

Murguia also noted Gonzales’ ties to the Hispanic community throughout his career. “Alberto Gonzales served with distinction on the board of directors of one of NCLR’s oldest and most respected affiliates, the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in Houston, Texas. Moreover, during his tenure as White House Counsel, he has been one of the most accessible members of the White House staff to NCLR and other Hispanic organizations,” added Murguia.

Murguia concluded, “We acknowledge that this is the first step of a long confirmation process that requires that his record be fully examined. That being said, Gonzales is a thoughtful, reasonable public servant, a man of his word, and we have every expectation that his nomination will be very well received in the Latino community.”

Oh yes, heaven forbid that MECha be lumped in "with the racism of La Voz de Aztlan".

LOL...

They are PACs, and membership is not limited to people of Mexican descent.

The Cuban-American National Foundation, the Polish-American clubs across the country, the Sons oif Italy, thre Knights of Columbus are all ethinically formed organizations.

Now, La Voz de Aztlan, they are racist in word and deed.

Good observation on MECha and the rest of those racist organizations. Some living in their Peter Pan world don't want to admit the truth even when it stares them in the face.

I live in a real world, not one made up from the lies people like Joe likes to promote.

I recognize that La Voz de Aztlan is a racist organization, very similar in the racism and hatred to Christian Identity, Aryan Nation, the Nation of Islam, and CAIR. But I don't attribute their words and actions to anyone but them simply based on the fact that they share a common ethnic background. There are a number of malignant, racist organizations within the Mexican-American community...there are many malignant, racist organizations among the black, white, and every community.

I also recognize that there are ethnic based organizations whose goal is to promote their ethnicity, but they do it without bringing down other ethnicities as do the aforementioned groups. The National Urban League, the Cuban-American National Foundation, the National Council of La Raza, the Sons of Italy, and The Islamic Supreme Council of America are among these groups.

I don't necessarily agree with all their agendas, but as an informed citizen, I feel that it is my duty to understand the differences.

Some here don't want to, some here would have all Americans of Mexican descent measured by the words and actions of the worst among them, such was the case with Americans of both Italian and Irish descent at one time; all people of Italian ancestry were mafiosi, and all people of Irish descent drunken louts, but the truly informed know that this is not true.

We lump all of these organizations together because they all practice racism.

You bet.

Anyone that was a member of the mafia, which is far far smaller today than it used to be would never get nominated let alone confirmed to a high government position in this day and age, and rightly so. I don't have all the facts on Alberto Gonzales but if it turns out he belonged to any organization that preaches hate or Reconquista then he should not be confirmed either.

What sheer ignorance you display...that's the University of Texas Pan-American's page for THEIR M.E.Ch.A. organization. What unbelievable inability to actually comprehend what you see and read.

You sound like you are auditioning for a play Luis but hey keep on dancing. I think that little UOT chapter does a pretty good job of explaining the founding principles of MECha which covers all their chapters...as my link proved.

The real unbelievable thing here is your denial of the very obvious which you try to cover up with your usual childish personal attacks when proven wrong. It is of course your long established and well-worn MO on FR.

M.E.Ch.A. doesn't have a homepage! Individual chapters do.
M.E.Ch.A. is just a bunch of idiot college kids mouthing off like most college kids do!

Here's their "constitution".

Indeed! From YOUR link "Here is their constitution":

<politicizing our Raza with an emphasis on indigenous consciousness to continue the struggle for the self-determination of the Chicano people for the purpose of liberating Aztlán. The following structure will make every MEChista accountable to its chapter, every chapter accountable to it's central (where applicable), every central accountable to its region, every region accountable to its state (where applicable), and every state accountable to the national.>>

LOL. Thanks for proving my point Luis. How does this do anything other than reinforce what I posted and linked?

You fear these guys?

I take seriously all subversives in America, especially subversives that are part of a much larger and growing contingent of serial lawbreakers that are in this country illegally.

They want California back? I'd be inclined to give it to them.

Oh you would huh? How generous of you Luis. Any other states you want to give away to Mexico? Thanks for the rare burst of candor in making that point clear. Not that I ever thought you believed differently. I commend you for coming out of the MECha closet.

I guess we can now forget about the first paragraph of your post to me when you start out by saying "What sheer ignorance you display...that's the University of Texas Pan-American's page for THEIR M.E.Ch.A. organization. What unbelievable inability to actually comprehend what you see and read". Hell, even you don’t believe what you said!

It would reduce both the number of illegal aliens and the number of liberal a$$holes in our country by millions.

liberal a$$holes? You make that qualification very easily. We here American Citizens don't surrender any of our American States to foreign countries, as much as seditious subversives like you wish we would.

That would be poetic justice.

Poetic Justice would be your deportation back to Cuba. As it stands, by your own words, you are one sorry excuse of an American Citizen.

They have to deny it. Otherwise they are exposed for what they are, leftist in conservative clothing and assorted frauds. This guy use to have a bunch of people hoodwinked. All but a few frauds have completely distanced themselves from him.

Then investigate the facts rather than waiting for others to present their version of them to you.

Your idea of a sorry excuse for an American citizen is an individual who freely speaks their mind?

The only sorry excuse for an American here seems to be you.

P.S. I can't be deported anywhere, so don't you worry about me.

"We lump all of these organizations together because they all practice racism."

One last thought about your statement.

You, like so many others here, have allowed actual racists to define racism as being racially-oriented.

People like Charlie Rangel, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Maxine Waters would jump on a soapbox and cry "racism" if anyone ever dared to create a Congressional White Caucus, and lead a filibuster by the Congressional Black Caucus in the halls of American Justice to denounce it. They have convinced you that anything related to racial or ethnic pride must be inherently racist...it isn't.

It isn't racist to be proud of your Hispanic heritage, or your Germanic heritage, or your Swedish heritage, or your black heritage.

It is racist to denigrate others based on their racial and/or ethnic identity.

It isn't racist to be proud of your black heritage, it is racist to believe that all white people are inherently evil.

Be proud of your ethnicity..whatever it happens to be.

One slight correction:

"People like Charlie Rangel, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Maxine Waters would jump on a soapbox and cry "racism" if anyone ever dared to create a Congressional White Caucus, and lead a filibuster by the Congressional Black Caucus in the halls of American Justice to denounce it. They have convinced you that anything related to racial or ethnic pride must be inherently racist...when it isn't THEIR race."

No, I was referring to subversives like you that seek to undermine the sovereignty, security and stability of America by supporting treasonous causes which seek to promote, among a range of nefarious activities, things such as a foreign conquest of America. You fit right in there Luis…by your own words.

P.S. I can't be deported anywhere.....

That's a shame.
