Washington, DC The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., today welcomed President Bushs nomination of White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales to succeed John Ashcroft as Attorney General. If confirmed, Gonzales would be the first Hispanic ever to serve as Attorney General.
We are very encouraged by the Gonzales nomination. We previously criticized the Bush Administration for not having an Hispanic in the cabinet since the departure of former HUD Secretary, now Senator-elect, Mel Martinez. We are pleased that one of the first acts since the Presidents reelection both rectifies that situation and marks an historic milestone for the Latino community. Never before has an Hispanic served as head of one of the four major cabinet posts Secretary of State, Treasury, Defense, and Attorney General, stated Janet Murguia, NCLR Executive Director and COO.
Murguia also noted Gonzales ties to the Hispanic community throughout his career. Alberto Gonzales served with distinction on the board of directors of one of NCLRs oldest and most respected affiliates, the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in Houston, Texas. Moreover, during his tenure as White House Counsel, he has been one of the most accessible members of the White House staff to NCLR and other Hispanic organizations, added Murguia.
Murguia concluded, We acknowledge that this is the first step of a long confirmation process that requires that his record be fully examined. That being said, Gonzales is a thoughtful, reasonable public servant, a man of his word, and we have every expectation that his nomination will be very well received in the Latino community.
What's louie do? Brings up the ADL as a source for all these people running around in the woods with guns preparing for the big racial war!
LOL! Too funny.
Attacking the source shows that you have no defense for the information.
Checkmate Joey.
The feds stated, "He made a sudden move, but was completely unarmed". Hehehe.
Hey louie, I think your on to something.
I wonder what those 8 hunters in Wisconsin were *really* doing in the woods. Ah bet they were preparing for that big racial war.
Go get um louie!
The National Council of "The Race" never made statements that they want to reclaim the land that America "stole" from Mexico? Seems like the members of NCLR have seriously misinterpreted the charter goals and objectives of the NCLR leadership.
Makes me wonder why the NCLR has let their members embarrass the organization by talking openly about taking over and colonizing America's Southwest without reigning them in and publicly denouncing these ideas. Strange.
Of course not. It's called National Council of "La Raza" ("The Race"). How dare people drop off the National Council part of "La Raza"!
Hehehe..
What glaring hypocrisy.
Back up your claims with facts.
Show me where you have seen these supposed statements.
What's ironic is that I back up my claims with facts which you never seem to be able to address, then you make claims that you never seem to be able to back up.
By the way, these groups are the ones talking about the Nazi way, I'm just reporting what they say.
Hey louie, why do you always bring up these so called militia groups in the woods, talking about nazi uniforms and all this other nonsense, but you never says a word about the *nightly*, routine, brutal murders, and shootings involving organized minority gangs, many of which are illegal aliens. Last year, thousand of people were brutally murdered, and injured all across this country in these shootings. How many involved these so called racist militia guys?
You put it all into perspective. Yes, thousands of Americans are killed, murdered, maimed, beaten, robbed and raped every year by Illegal Aliens and little if anything is said about it in the press. It's slow motion terrorism on the American People that the MSM and Beltway establishment refuse to talk about. But those loony White Supremacists that run around the woods playing their silly survivalist war games now that is just an intolerable threat to the very existence of America! We live in Crazy Times.
You didn't answer my question: Why doesn't NCLR denounce the militants in their organization that use the term "La Raza" (The Race) in conjunction with seizing the S.W. territories of the U.S.? And when I say denounce, I mean in the most stringent of terms, by ALL in the leadership of the NCLR, in public statements that leaves no doubt that they do not, in any way, endorse the agenda of MENCHa and other radical Mexican organizations.
All I ever hear is a little murmuring from the NCLR that they don't really ascribe to the views of the more extreme among them. And when the name of the organization is National Council of "The Race" such feeble attempts at distancing themselves from say MECHa does not, like you, carry much weight in the credibility department.
Hey Joey, how come you only talk about bad things done by immigrants, and never good things?
What was it about the picture of George P. Bush that you found so weird?
By the way Joey...show me all the post where I've brought up these militia groups that you claim I'm always bringing up.
You know what making up stories about other people is called Joey?
Here's a clue...it rhymes with flying.

STATEMENT OF RAUL YZAGUIRRE, NCLR PRESIDENT ON LA VOZ DE AZTLAN
Washington, DC - Recently the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) became aware of a website and other information that is being circulated on the Internet by La Voz de Aztlan. The phrases the site frequently uses, "La Raza de Aztlan" or "La Raza," are generic terms that many use to refer to Mexican American people in this country. NCLR has no connection whatsoever to the website or its sponsoring group.
I am issuing this somewhat unusual statement because, after a cursory review of the website, I found it to be full of reprehensible and bigoted references toward a number of communities - in particular, to the Jewish American community. No responsible Latino organization or leader of my acquaintance agrees with the misinformation being dispensed on the site, nor do I know of any who concur with the grotesque stereotypes that appear in many of its alleged "articles." This site purports to be an "advocacy clearinghouse" for the Mexican American community, but it is anything but that. Its rhetoric is completely antithetical to anyone truly committed to civil rights for all in this nation - it not only disparages Jews, it is full of ugly and snide references to gays and lesbians. Moreover, it attacks the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), a major Hispanic civil rights organization, apparently because some of its staff have chosen to marry people of other faiths.
These manifestations of hate, intolerance, and bigotry should be condemned by all Americans, especially when carried out in the name of fighting discrimination and oppression against our community. All Americans of conscience should know that this site is the work of a tiny, fringe group and does not reflect the opinions and feelings of the overwhelming majority of Latinos in this country.
Reading is not your forté, is it?
LOL. This, from an organization that calls itself the National Council of "The Race". It's doesn't get any better in the hypocrisy dept. Its like saying We The Race, The One Great Race reject bigotry in any form. Mel Brooks could have a lot of fun with that.
So some of the more radical Mexican groups got into some hot water with the Jewish community huh? Still didn't see any condemnation of MECHa, and a blurb on a website is a most pathetic attempt at denouncing their extremists.
Where are the NCLR press conferences in denouncing any affiliation with these other extremists groups?
You answer a question with a question? LOL!
Why do you refer to illegal aliens as immigrants?
Do you refer to drug dealers as medication distributors?
Are you so ignorant you can't distinguish the difference between someone who breaks our laws and someone that doesn't?
Again, "Hey louie, why do you always bring up these so called militia groups in the woods, talking about nazi uniforms and all this other nonsense, but you never says a word about the *nightly*, routine, brutal murders, and shootings involving organized minority gangs, many of which are illegal aliens. Last year, thousand of people were brutally murdered, and injured all across this country in these shootings. How many involved these so called racist militia guys?"
Why do you always bring up racism, and accuse others of being racist against illegal aliens, yet you never address the above?
I'll answer that louie. Because you are a fraud. Plain and simple.
