Patti and Ron Jr. are spoiled, obnoxious brats who could never have done a thing on their own. How can Ron Jr. be a commentator on anything. He dropped out of college and has done nothing. He is embarrassing.

I love the "STILL stoned...still wrong and still irrelevant" comment. It has a kind of Zell Miller ring to it.

As much as I dislike her, my contempt for her ne'er do well brother is 5 fold that. He might as well have just pissed on his father's grave by speaking at the Democratic National Convention. I'll bet President Reagan was spinning in his grave over that one.

she did her share of recreational drugs, but in the 1960s and 1970s, what young person didn't?

I didn't, nor AFAIK did any of my close friends at the time. Just a bunch of geeks I guess. Not that I don't know of folks who did. Most of 'em dumber 'n a pile of rocks. Except for one guy who was a Presidential Scholar and valedictorian of my high school class. That was before he "did his share". Then he lost his scholarship. Never did know what became of him, he never showed at any class reunions.

Uh actually most of us didn't.

I didn't use drugs.

I didn't either, and I resent when people from my generation try to say we all did. I knew lots of people who did not! The crowd I hung around with DID NOT Patti dear!

I have read Patti's other books, and my sense is she was a spoiled rotten self centered brat, who grew into a spoiled rotten self centered young adult and woman. If you read her own words in her former books, you can see the selfishness and ridiculous whining all through them. She regrets it now? Good, she should.

I knew there were some out there who didn't "use" in the
60's and 70's and I'm glad to see you speak up! (I was too young - just barely!) To make a blanket statement like that
to cover your own stupidity is just ignorant, Patti dearest!
I agree that Ron Jr. and Patti are both an embarrassment
to the Reagan name. Too bad you didn't appreciate your dad
until he got alzheimers....too little, too late, I'd say.

She and Ron Jr. are cashing in on the moment.

Exactly. Did the Prima Donna (the latter) not almost prohibit Pres. Bush from even mentioning his father's name during the presidential campaign? The failed ballerina has forgotten it was the Republicans who put his father in the WH, and GWB, whether Ronette likes it or not, is the standard bearer of the Republican Party. Between Bush and the unsuccessful danceuse, it is the President who has the right to capitalize on Pres. Reagan's legacy.

Perhaps Patti was influenced by the California lifestyle

And the drugs she took. I classify her in with people like Ozzy Osbourne --- they've messed up their minds and once you've done that too much you really can't be expected to be completely normal again. They might even try sometimes and they might not be completely gone but they're never completely there.

>>I've always kind of liked her, she has always struck me as a nice person, despite her idiot views. Good luck, Patti.

Ditto all of that. I've always thought there was something heroic about Patti; she has fought demons, been wounded and forever changed, but she has slain them, survived and grown. Drugs were the least of it. And yes, she's still a bit of a wacko, not to mention a liberal, but there are all kinds of heroes. In reality, few are very clever.

I would like to go on record as someone who graduated from HS in 1965 and who didn't use drugs. I was too busy studying chemical engineering.

I am with you. I graduated high school in 1960 and did not recreational drugs, didn't pose for playboy, didn't go to antiwar rallies and never humiliated my parents, did not have multiple lovers, not even one lover till marriage.

She is trying to rewrite and normalize her very abnormal history and her utter betrayal and humiliation of her parents.

Do we smell inheritance here? Maybe she is making nice to her father to get back in the good graces of her mother, who inherited (one assumes) the Gipper's money when he died.

I agree that she may have lost her way occasionally but she's a nice girl at heart. On the other hand, her brother, Ron, is one of the most biased, obnoxious, jerks I've ever heard. How any cable network can use him as an expert is beyond me. He never even got through college and as far as I know has never had any responsible job which would make him knowledgeable about anything with the possible exception of dance yet, almost on a nightly basis, C Matthews turns to him for informing the audience what? So far, I've heard his say nothing beyone DNC seminar lines. What a hateful creep! Now if they wanted someone who's involved and has a real job, they could call on his brother, Michael. But, he's probably not suck up to CM so he's out!

We should be happy they've decided not to reproduce.

Besides, I wouldn't want Patti or Ronnie as my parents.
