The Greatest Man in the World
Self | November 28,2004 | FryingPan101

Posted on 11/28/2004 8:12:43 AM PST by FryingPan101

The greatest man in the world died peacefully in his sleep three hours ago in his home in Georgia with his wife of 62 years by his side. My dad was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne in WWII. He fought mightily in the Korean Conflict. He held Silver Stars and numerous awards of the Purple Heart. He was the proud owner of six combat jumps. He was a man of honor, love of country, devotion to family. Our family loved him deeply and our hearts are broken. He wanted to get to the WWII Memorial Dedication more than anything but illness struck him down just days before the scheduled trip. He never recovered until God called him home this morning.

Please accept my condolences and you will be in my prayers.

We can never repay the debt we owe great men like this, but we can remain eternally grateful.

God Bless You!

Another of the greatest generation leaves us.

My Dad & Mom got to the WWII memorial just a couple of months ago for their last Army Air Corps reunion - there were only 39 of them left.

God Bless your father and the rest of our fallen heroes. My grandfather also fought in WW2 and the Korean War, perhaps even alongside your father. I live a couple miles away from the WW2 Memorial and it always brings a tear to my eye when I visit. Let me know if you would like me to leave something there in your fathers honor, I would be honored myself.

The Greatest Man in the World just made his last jump. What a legacy to have men like this in our lives. My father landed at Normandy had 5 battle stars and never talked about it. Just DID IT. Please accept my sympathies as we are now the front line and have to pick up the mantle and lead this country. God bless you and your family at this time of grief and a celebration of a life well lived.

Your father will live in the thanks of a grateful nation forever.

Your father will live in the love and memory of his family and friends forever.

And most of all your father is alive in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and will live in the house of the Lord forever.

You will see him again.

God bless.

I am sorry for your loss. Your father was an American hero. He leaves behind a great legacy for his children and his grandchildren; a man to be emulated for generations to come.

May God rest his soul, and give you and your family peace.

"He was the proud owner of six combat jumps."

Whoa! Beats out my former postman, Jack McNeice and his four jumps in WWII Europe.

And may be more than even Basil Plumley (sp?) of "We Were Soldiers" fame.

"He never recovered until God called him home this morning."
I feel you Dad has made THE "jump" of all eternity.
