Is a mosque a holy place? Q. Is a mosque a holy place?

A. A mosque is a place that is specifically dedicated as a place of prayer. However, there is nothing sacred about the building or the place itself. There is no equivalent of an altar in a mosque. A Muslim may pray on any clean surface. Muslims often pray in public places.

If terrorists are using a Mosque to attack our troops, it should be a "holey" place...

Unlike Judeo-Christian Churches/Synagogues, there is no
consecration of a mosque. It is merely an ornamented building
where moslems may come to pray.

If a moslem decided to pray on a manhole cover, that doesn't
mean the manhole cover is holy.

And, as mentioned elsewhere, Islam has no one governing authority to keep the heretics and defilers of the Koran at
bay. It is a religion of ''personalities''...sort of like Hollywood.

The clerics with the biggest attendance have the most clout,
but little actual authority.

I helped build a small mosque in Saudi Arabia. There was no problem. Then after the 'dedication' or first 'service', I and other non-muslims were no longer allowed to enter.

"Mosque" is merely the first syllable of an annoying, blood sucking insect ...

Mosque-Eat-Toe !!!

A mosque, if it were actually a house of worship, then it would be protected by our military. But is more like a "Mask" a place to hide behind to promote their agenda of hate and attacks on our people and the people of Iraq. So, No. they are nothing more than a place for the enemy to hide. I know, you already said that. Just in a few less words than what I did :)

Historically Christianity has also been quite belligerent. People hurt during the Crusades could say the same thing. I don't think we should lump all of Islam into one judgment.

I agree. If a Muslim has sworn that he opposes all violence and that he would work against islamonazis if he were in a position to...

and if he wore some authorized plaque around his neck signifying that he made these oaths...

then and only then should he not be suspect of terrorism and conspiracy to commit terrorism. imo

Hello! Are we living in the Middle Ages? While the so-called Christian world isn't. It seems that the Islamic world is still caught in the Middle Ages. Have you heard of any Christians going around lopping off heads of people in the name of Christ lately? I haven't! But I see Islamo Fascists doing it and I haven't heard so much as a peep from the so-called Muslim leadership in this country denouncing it.

Now my history might be a little rusty here, but weren't the "crusades" basically a response to Islamic encroachment of Europe much like what is happening today?

And could you please enlighten us on at least one positive contribution Islam has given the world.

Given the popularly practiced hate filled, murderous and warlike nature of the Koran, and join that to the Muslim community's knowledge and consent to manufacture and warehouse arms and explosives in Mosques, I would say "Yes" Mosques are Islam's most holy of holy places. [This is NOT sarcasm]

A mosque is as holy as a satanic temple consecrated to Lucifer.

That would depend on what the definition of "Holy" is. Satanists consider their sanctuaries as holy places in a sick way. But then to them light/darkness good/evil are reversed.

If we're chasing Bin Laden and he runs into a Mosque, we won't stand down. I guarantee it.

Two of the four orthodox caliphs --- those that "inherited" Islam from Muhammed --- were murdered in a mosque.

It's never been sacred to them in the sense that churches are sacred to Christians.
