Undocumented Bangladeshis in US may stay as guest workers (read the whole aricle..it will floor you)

Humayun Kabir, in his 30s, drives taxi in downtown LA and fetches over US$ 2,500 every month. But he is not a happy man.

Humayun is always haunted by the fear of being deported because he is an undocumented immigrant.

"I was in fact a businessman. I used to earn more than what I do now. But one day my Bangladeshi partner technically drove me out of the business, forcing me to take up the odd job," says a distraught Humayun (not his real name).

He comes from Mirsarai thana of Chittagong District. He migrated to USA from Saudi Arabia five years ago as a domestic help of a Sheikh family and then chose to stay here permanently.

Humayun has long been trying to legalise his status, but fortune does not smile on him.

"I also married a black woman on contract to have a green card… but the woman and my lawyer, who is also from the black community, cheated me. The black lady even took away all my money from the bank, as I had to open a joint account as part of the process to prove that she is my wife," Humayun recalls. "But I'm not ready to give up. I still dream of going back home with a US green card and getting married," says he.

There is nothing unique in Humayun's case. He is among 5,000 undocumented Bangladeshi immigrants in California.

According to Md Shahidul Islam, the Bangladesh Consul General in Los Angeles, there are some 40,000

Bangladeshi immigrants living in California, one of the largest states of the USA, and they have a reputation of hard work.

"They (the US authorities) have assured us of looking into the matter," Islam said. He says there is, however, good news for the undocumented immigrants.

President Bush, during a meeting with Mexican President Vicente Fox on November 20, vowed to push a plan that would allow undocumented immigrants to remain in the United States as guest workers.

Bush made the commitment with Fox in the Chilean capital where the two leaders attended the annual Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation conference.

Bush's plan, not yet written into a bill, would be the first overhaul of US immigration rules in 18 years. It would allow three-year work visas for an undetermined number of the millions of immigrants living illegally in the United States."

Marrying someone just to get a green card sounds like fraud to me. I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for this guy.

Before its all said and done he'll claim he's "converted" to Christianity and can't go back to Bangladesh for fear of persecution.

Hundreds of immigrants, including Bangladeshis, are now trying to migrate to Canada.

"I'm totally frustrated. I couldn't be a US citizen even after living here for the last 16 years. So I'm going to leave for Canada next month to settle there permanently," says Adil, another Bangladeshi.

So, what's holding you up? Go north, man, go!!!

Not only is he "mildly" racist, he's in this country illegally, he commits fraud by marrying for a green card, he slams everyone, and then he wants to go back to his country with the green card (possibly to bring relatives back). He believes since the Mexican's will get to stay here because Pres. Bush and Fox have made arrangement to allow more "guest workers", his opportunity has come.

How many more will piggy back on this insane policy?

I have officially begun to regret voting for him. He can go 'push' his plan alright.

La Raza is very happy that Alberto Gonzales has replaced John Ashcroft because they feel he will help their cause.

On their web site (http://www.nclr.org/content/news/detail/28153)*I did not translate this since I don't speak enough Spanish to do that, so I used a page translator which kind of makes the article disjointed, but you will see the main idea*

NCLR CELEBRATES THE GONZALES APPOINTMENT TO SERVE LIKE JUSTICE SECRETARY

Washington, DC - the National Council of the Race (NCLR, by its abbreviations in English), the Latin organization of civil rights more important of the nation, today celebrated the appointment by president Bush of the legal adviser of the White House Alberto Gonzales to replace to John Ashcroft like secretary of Justice. Of being confirmed, Gonzales would be first the Hispanic in serving like secretary of Justice.

"it encourages to much the appointment to Us of Gonzales. Previously we have criticized the administration of Bush not to have a Hispanic in the cabinet from the exit of the secretary of House (HUD), now elect senator, Mel Martinez. We are contentments of which one of the first actions of the president after its re-election simultaneously rectifies that situation and marks a little while historical for the Latin community. Before a Hispanic has never served like head of one as the main positions of the cabinet - secretary of the State, of Treasure, Defense and of Justice, "it indicated Janet Murguia, the executive director and manager of operations of NCLR.

Murguia also illustrated the bows of Gonzales with the Hispanic community during all its race. "Alberto Gonzales served with distinction in the board of directors of one as oldest and respected affiliated organizations of NCLR, the for Association the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in Houston, Texas. On the other hand, during his race like legal adviser of the White House, it has been one of the most accessible members of the personnel of the White House for NCLR and other Hispanic organizations, "added Murguia.

Murguia concluded, "we we recognize that this one is the first passage of a long process of confirmation that it requires that their antecedents completely are examined. Having said that, Gonzales is a careful, reasonable public crew member, a man of word and we have all the confidence from which its appointment will be very well received in the Latin community."

Ginifer, seeing as how I am slightly computer challenged, what do you think about starting a petition to Pres. Bush, Homeland Security, and the Border Patrol demanding enforced borders and removal of illegals? I would if I could but I'm doing good to do what I do. (And I do it so well 8))

Bush is a very strange Texan. Most Texans retain the fight for independence and the atrocities the Mexican armies committed in their tradition. This includes the early Mexican settlers who were glad to get away from the corruption and authoritarian leaders of Mexico. To Bush, this means nothing. He's a Harvard cowboy with rhinestone mentality posing as a westerner. World government is on his mind with Senor Bush being the Predidente.

Go to this site: http://securedbordersusa.com/PETITION.htm

There are organizations that have email/fax

Here are a few:
http://www.usbc.org
http://www.numbersusa.com
http://capwiz.com/fair/home

Call the White House and politely express your opposition to the foreign worker/legalization plan. The comment lines for the White House are 1 (202) 456-1111 and 1 (202) 456-1414. Also, call the Washington offices of your representatives and senators and politely express your views. To reach them call the Capitol Hill Switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

Hope that helps you get a start. If I can do anything else to help, let me know. We all have to stick together to stop this insanity.
