The Mythical Martyr
The images of Mohammed al-Durra hiding from Israeli fire behind his father's back in the early days of the second intifada, only to be struck down by enemy bullets, shocked the whole world.
....his example is used to encourage other children to emulate his spirit of sacrifice. Even in the West, the pictures that won so many journalism prizes have become the most recognizable symbol of Israeli aggression. When Ehud Barak, ....visited Paris in the same year, French President Jacques Chirac wryly scolded him. "Killing children is no policy."
And yet, it was nothing but a hoax
scientifically proved that -- given the angle of the Israeli position vis-à-vis Mohammed al-Durra -- the soldiers could not have possibly killed the boy. Mr. Shahaf then uncovered an incredible plot: He demonstrated that since the shots must have come from directly behind or next to the cameraman, the whole scene of the supposed infanticide must have been staged -- and that the boy seen in the film was not killed at all. Going through the film ......he could even see the cameraman's finger making a "take two" sign, used by professionals to signal the repeat of a scene.
"that Talal has retracted his testimony?"
No, they did not know. How could they since neither the French channel nor the Palestinian cameraman ever made that public? It is incredible how France 2 so nonchalantly admitted that their star witness, well, their only witness to the alleged killing, retracted his accusations.
showed the child in a different death position from the one shown before. So the child moved after he was presumably dead? The unbearable images of the child's death that Mr. Enderlin rhapsodized about? A mirage, a total invention, worthy of Scheherazade...

There were long threads where every angle, shot, possibility, and motive was analysed by Freepers.
It doesn't get the recognition of outing the fake Rather memo, maybe now it will.
Let it be said, the Mohammed al-Durra scam was first reported on FreeRepublic. More then four years ago.
The WSJ has to be excerpted. The excerpt butchers the story. You should attempt to read this in its entirety.
I can't afford to subscribe. But thanks are due to the WSJ for breaking yet another MSM embargo. You will never see this story in the NY Times, but this should help word to get out.
Maybe someone should alert Drudge, because he is also very helpful in getting the word out around the liberal censors.
The Leftist scum sure made a big stink about that one, though. Arab propagandists certainly understand that, when given the opportunity, Leftists will believe the most brainless propaganda so as to have an opportunity to condemn the United States>
Liberals are the most brainless, knee-jerk, reactionary freaks in existence.
We know several of the names that the Father of all liars goes by. He has innumerable other aliases, we are discovering as we remember that, "by their works ye shall know them."
What scientific group not in any way connected to the conflict proved it a hoax?...
Ans: none
Yup, The story fits the myth so well, it can't possibly be a hoax. The "facts" are beleived, even if not actually seen. Sounds real familiar.
For example, stories and reports of the Russian children killed in their classrooms are suppose to be non-facts as well (according to some)... ..
With that in mind, I think it is too bad that the Muslim religious leaders don't just join the rank and file they are encouraging and start blowing themselves up as well....
What scientific group not in any way connected to the conflict proved it a hoax?...
Lot's of debunking was done here back when the story first ran.
It was the q'urning.
I'd already seen plenty of pictures showing pali cowards using children as cover; I pretty much assumed the same when the MSM ran this one, and blew off the criticism by the MSM and the world community that followed.
bttt
Palestinians gone Hollywood. It was only a matter of time.
REPORTING FROM ISRAEL
WARNING: This is a high volume ping list
The New Yorker ran this piece years ago.
Here's my bad attitude, I don't care if the little shite died. OK? That's what his mom wanted, right? That's what all the Palis want, no? They want their children to die and they want our children to die, isn't that a fact?
So I really DO NOT CARE if the little bugger was shot, by the Israelis, by his own side, or by a hip-hop drive-by.
That is my bad attitude, and I'm sticking to it. If the Islamofacists want to change their bad attitude, I will take under consideration changing mine. But not until then. After all, my attitude is a new acquistion for me, I've only had since 9/11/01.
I made a short summary of the article from the paper version of WSJ in a post a few days ago:
