"I have had one machine running for almost two years straight in XP"

Two and 1/2 years no problems here. Had to fix a couple things after SP2, but no biggie.

BTW, I've got 98SE on another machine and that's been very reliable too.

Been using Microsoft products for over twenty years since CPM came bundled with my Kaypro II.

I agree with you and the others about SP2. I may just format my new machine without it, beef up my firewall and anti-virus and see what happens.

CP/M wasn't Microsoft. Microsoft's DOS competed with CP/M-86. IBM went with DOS for the PC.

Thanks for your post. I thought I was going crazy w/SP-2! After install, I couldn't access any secure site. I finally deinstalled and things went back to normal. Any suggestions?

CPM is not a Microsoft OS and Kaypro did not run Microsoft OS's either.
