I HAD to fly last week on business. I have nice dress shoes which have NO metal in them. I went through Houston Bush and even though I didn't set off the machine while wearing my non-metal shoes, I still got tagged for this little pat down. Yes, too personal for my taste, and I normally don't mind stuff like this.
Turns out that if shoes are near one inch deep, you will "probably" be screened. Man, I hate to travel on the airlines nowadays. It just ain't worth it!

A few years ago, I saw a guy have to put his sandles through the x-ray machine. Un-freeking believable mentality of these screeners. If I ever have to fly again, I'm going to approach the screening area barefoot. Then some jackass will inspect my toenails for traces of C4.

Have you paid atention to the public address system at Houston Int'l? It states that you can be arrested for making statements which are found "offensive".
This is a violation of Freedom Of Speech, yet, in the name of "security" the fascists at TSA seem to get away with it.
I will avoid flying as much as possible. I refuse to put myself through such demeaning tactics.
