Me personally, I just couldn't remain friends with people who are so illiberal and intolerant.

Liberalism too. There's nothing liberal about these people. Call 'em Leftist. Marxist or Communist would be more accurate.

Because of my line of work (mental health/human services), and my appearance (I'd blend into a Hell's Angels convention quite nicely), its often assumed that I am a liberal, if not an outright far-lefty, by those who do not know me.

Coming back from a training session in NYC, the conversation in the car turned to politics. One guy said "I don't know why conservatives..."

Before he could finish, I blurted out with "Well, why don't you ask one of us?"

Trust me on this one, a quicker way of stopping a conversation will never be found.

Or Fascist or Nazi would be more accurate yet.

Remember, these are the people who considered Pol Pot's a "progressive regime" and Yassar Arafat a worthy "peace prize" recipient.

Tolerance is definately a code word & doesn't apply when the conservative is the odd man out. Its incredible to me how Liberals can (with a straight face) call conservatives all sorts of names (facist, racist, bigot, ...), and then "bemoan" the loss of civility. What they really mean is that they appear to act civil if they were in charge.

It seems to me that this is not the path to a civil political climate or national healing, both of which my liberal friends want.

No, what they want is unconditional surrender. That's their version of "can't we all just get along." They reserve the right to improve your judgement with force. And they demand that you applaud them for it. The final argument of the liberal soft-core fascist invariably devolves to the gun or the gulag. That's why we will never, ever 'just get along.'

I've had some delightful times with Hell's Angels.

When I was spending some time in La Honda (California, of course), I was warned not to go to Applejack's because of a biker convention there. Naturally, that was the first place I headed. I had a wonderful time. I made friends. By afternoon, I was buying drinks on-the-house, and by evening I was playing the piano.

(Interestingly, a rock version of the Capulets' Ball music, from Prokofief's Romeo and Juliette, played on the juke box. It's one of my favorites. The rock version's fun. Everyone seemed to like it and seemed surprised to learn who wrote the music.)

An open mind, like virtue (not to be confused, as Leftists would have you do, with sexual prudery) is its own but not its only reward (something that Leftists will never discover as long as they remain Leftists.)

(You see, Leftists know nothing of virtue, morality, liberalism, or open-mindedness--among many other things--and such things, like truth, are incompatible with the Leftist point of view--or the Leftist Democrat Party, for that matter.)

(Having given these people careful consideration and spent considerable time with them and considering what they have to say, my opinion of them, as you can see, could not be lower.)

(The same's not true of Hell's Angels.)

not a peep from the NAACP

I beg to differ. There was one little peep from the NAACP.

Liberal tolerance is an oxymoron.

What they really mean is that they appear to act civil if they were in charge.

And civil to them means "You aqueous or we will ruin you".

I was watching C-span today, and they had on Jimmy Breslin, Frank McCourt, and Peter Hamill uber libs all three. While generally blaming Bush and Republicans for every bad thing that has ever happened in America, they took questions from the audience about immigration and other subjects. Many of the questions from the audience were of the type demanding to know why certain newspapers like the N.Y. Post and tv networks like Fox had emerged and what they could do to suppress them.

Obviously liberals are the most intolerant people in the world, but they just refuse to recognize it. One dope from the audience was even whining about how hard it was to get dissenting opinions about Bush and Republicans voiced. This after the most vicious assaults on any president during a presidential campaign I've ever seen. Correction: liberals are ignorant, arrogant, and intolerant .

This writer needs to drop the liberals she calls "friends". They are not friends. She's better off without them.

You know, this article really made me pause for a minute. My husband has been begging me for the last couple of weeks to take the Bush/Cheney sticker off of my car. I recently took a trip to the city where libs by far outnumber conservatives and he told me how dangerous it was to leave my bumper sticker showing in that situation. This article makes me realize that there's something to what my husband said. :-/

How scary.

I agree with you both.

This woman needs to find better friends..........or should I say friends who are better people.

And, your husband is right, mountaingirl. Some of these people are dangerous because their view of the world is so warped.

Can you imagine doing physical harm to someone because they have a Kerry bumper sticker on their car??

It's unimaginible. And the reason is that conservatives are decent people, and most liberals are not.

The more I think about this story, the more sickening it becomes.

Yes. I know. Too much cranberry sauce.

I was reading some of my posts from yesterday this morning and had to hang my head in shame.
