I have heard nothing but bad about the Red Cross myself.
In respect to the United Way: not a sou.
The UW must have had a lot of clout back then. In 1970 I was in the Army in Germany. The battalion had a drive to get 100% participation. I refused to participate. One month later I and three other non-contributors had orders for 'Nam. We were out of the battalion before the end of the UW drive. The old man got his 100% participation.
Upon return to civilian life, I worked for a company that had the same drive. This time I participated. I received four promotions and nearly quadrupled my income in five years.
I don't think the UW is that big anymore, though.
Dayton no longer owns Target or is affiliated . he's not even on their board of directors...

I think you're right. I was called into the office of the "Head Cheese".
I was pretty intimidated, but I didn't back down because they were giving
tons of loot to the homosexuals and drug addicts with AIDS in Baltimore.
I felt they made their beds they could lie in them.
"When I read the list of organizations that they supported, I refused absolutely to contribute."
Where can I get this list?
Forget giving to the corrupt, leftist, United Way. Give to the Salvation Army instead.
That sounds fair to me.
I like Target. And I don't see this as a reason to stop shopping there.
The "real" baby killers are deserving of total villification formerly reserved for Vietnam Veterans who are innocent! The dis-jointed un united way are criminal minded losers who wouldn't know the truth if it reared up and bit them in the BUTT!
thanks.
i didn't say he's on the board of directors.
my real interest is why families of success become liberals.
that's all.
My reply to them:
I have read with interest and concern your determination to turn the Salvation Army Kettle ringers away from your premises. I know that it is fruitless to attempt to sway your decision, so I won't.
Today I had an opportunity to read an official statement from your organization (printed below). This statement proved to be the deciding factor in my decision to spend my holiday dollars (and the dollars to follow after the holidays) elsewhere. Did any of you that aren't lawyers actually read this? Don't you recognize how weaselly you come off sounding in this communiqué?
No matter. You have the prerogative to conduct your business as you wish (however foolish). Likewise, I have the prerogative to spend my hard-earned monies where I see fit. I find your conduct offensive and unworthy of my continued support.
Enjoy the fruits of your decisions.

PS: That leaves me with a few extra bucks for the kettle!
Their website?
Back in the seventies they had a brochure that everyone got and in it was a listing
of the "charities" they supported.
Supposedly you could check off the charities that you wanted your contribution
to go to. In my mind that was just a ploy to ease your mind that your contribution
wasn't going to the deviants. They were just taking money out of one pocket and
putting it in another.
I was pressured at work too. I stood up and asked if any donations went to PP. I couldn't get a straight answer. My supervisor wasn't happy with me.
bttt
Good one!
Make that a flood. Sorry.
