Pro-Life Ohioans: Say NO to liberal Jennette Bradley for State Treasurer
E-Mail from Warren County Right to Life ^ | 11-23-2004 | Warren County Right to Life

Ohio's pro-abortion Lt. Governor, Jennette Bradley, wants to be appointed to the State Treasurer seat that Joe Deters is vacating. Tell Gov. Taft and Republican Party leaders that we do not want pro-abortion, pro-gay-rights Jennette Bradley as Ohio State Treasurer.

Ms. Bradley promoted gay rights initiatives in Columbus. And at her own press conference when she was chosen for Lt Gov, she stated that she was "pro-choice."

Call, fax and e-mail these three asap (calls are most effective, then faxes, then e-mails--in that order):

Bob Bennett, Ohio Republican Chairman--ph (614) 228-2481 fax (614) 228 -1093 chairman@ohiogop.org

Gov. Bob Taft--ph (614) 466-3555 or (614) 644-HELP no fax listed

P.S. Please forward this to pro-life Ohioans and let us know if you get any feedback. Also, letters to the editor would be helpful:

from CINCINNATI ENQUIRER article, Jan. 11, 2003: Bradley likely bound for a national stage With swearing-in Monday, lieutenant governor's low profile is about to rise

Actually, Democrats' criticism of Ms. Bradley pales in comparison to the right wing of her own party. They remain angry at her council vote in 1998 to give health benefits to the gay partners of Columbus city employees. Groups such as the Christian Coalition also blasted her for her stand in favor of abortion rights. She shrugs off such criticism, saying those positions don't define her as a candidate. "I'm pro-choice, but I only talk about that when I'm asked about it by a reporter," she says. "It's already federal law, so it's not an issue for me."

Excerpts from THE POST/OHIO UNIVERSITY, ATHENS, March 8, 2002: Lt. Gov. race makes history

Bradley knows some of her opinions, such as pro-choice stance and her support for a health care package including same sex benefits, go against the many Republican stances. “I understand people in the party who don’t agree with me, I respect their beliefs,” she said. “The important thing to remember is that Governor Taft will be making policy decisions.”

The Good News magazine, Sept. 2002:

Ohio Pro-Family Leader Distressed by Governor Taft's Pick for Lt. Gov. Governor and Running Mate Jeanette Bradley, Support Homosexual Practicesby Steven Isaac -->

Bono

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-->(AgapePress) - At least one Ohio pro-family group is not happy with the decision of Republican Governor Robert Taft to pick a pro-homosexual, pro-abortion running mate for his re-election bid.

Governor Taft was forced to pick a new running mate when his Lt. Governor, Maureen O'Connor, announced her candidacy for the Ohio Supreme Court. His choice, Columbus (Ohio) City Council member Jeanette Bradley , has angered many conservatives, who argue that she does not represent core Republican values.

Linda Harvey is president of Columbus-based Mission:America, a pro-family ministry that addresses cultural and social trends in the U.S. and what those trends portend for Christians. Harvey says in selecting Bradley, the Governor has "sided with the increasingly aggressive campaign to promote and legitimize homosexuality."

Harvey offers examples of Bradley's support for the homosexual agenda. She says that while a member of the City Council in 1998, Bradley voted in favor of taxpayer subsidies for unmarried "domestic partners," including homosexuals living together. The measure Bradley supported was withdrawn that same month by the Council after petitioners gathered more than 10,000 signatures, asking for the measure's repeal.

And according to Harvey, Bradley stormed out of a Republican Central Committee meeting in early 1999, after fighting to keep her endorsed spot on the Republican ticket. Following a speech supporting homosexual rights, Bradley reportedly said Republicans who are concerned with the health risks associated with homosexuality are full of "hatred and intolerance."

"It's unbelievable that intelligent people like Taft and Ms. Bradley have fallen for the notion that homosexual practices should be supported," Harvey says.

Harvey says Taft may be looking to broaden the diversity of the GOP by selecting Bradley, who is an African-American woman. But the pro-family spokeswoman says there are many "pro-family African-American women of integrity" who would have been better choices.

According to Harvey, many Republicans are caving in to the idea of "diversity" in that they give priority to gender and ethnic issues rather than seeking out a person who has integrity and character. She adds that in recent years, some Republicans have used grassroots conservatives to front campaigns, disguise their real agenda until after they are elected, and then wind up looking "just like a Democrat."

Harvey believes that most Republicans, when fully informed about what homosexual activists are demanding in communities and schools, are not just concerned but outraged. In selecting Bradley, she says, Taft is out of touch with the "lifeblood" of the Republican Party.

I don't think Bob Taft listens to anyone. He is totally disconnected from reality, as far as I can see. He is a disgrace to the Republican party.

...Republicans who are concerned with the health risks associated with homosexuality are full of "hatred and intolerance."

This statement makes no sense at all.

The infection rate of homosexuals is well documented, so I assume that Bradley has nothing but love and tolerance for the disease carriers in her social circle.

Normally, it does not exactly trip my trigger when a pro-abort, pro-gay, etc., liberal Republican ends up in a position such as State Treasurer. It's not like she can invest the state's money with Planned Parenthood or the Stonewall Union. The Treasurer's bully pulpit is rather limited.

In this case, though, Jeanette Bradley is tagged for stardom by the Republican bigwigs.

They want a minority? Fine. Make Blackwell the Lieutenant Governor. Oh, wait. He's a conservative. Never mind.

Sorry Diago, but this is a done deal. Taft first picked her to be Lt. Govenor so they could have a high profile African American who isn't Ken Blackwell. So she will have the new job because again she's an African American who isn't Ken Blackwell.

The only solution is to get Ken Blackwell elected to the governor mansion in 2006. I'll be volunteering as soon as the campaign starts. I hope it starts soon.

So this is how Ohio's pivitol "value voters" are to be rewarded. Specter, Jeanette Bradley, and perhaps another pro-abort as Bradley's replacement - the similarly pro-abortion Womer Benjamin.

Blackwell is the only one I trust. I hope everyone will join you and me in working for Blackwell as our next governor.

Another article follows:

http://www.onnnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=2521056&nav=LQlCSkiw

State treasurer Joe Deters has won back his old job as Hamilton County prosecutor, a move that could start a chain of appointments by Gov. Bob Taft.

Deters says he'll step down as treasurer when he's sworn in as prosecutor on Jan. 3.

Taft is calling Lieutenant Governor Jennette Bradley a "leading contender" for the job. Bradley already has said she would run for treasurer in 2006.

That would leave Bradley's job open. Possible replacements for her include Insurance Commissioner Ann Womer Benjamin and Senate President Doug White.

Deters decided to run for prosecutor when a sex scandal prompted Republican incumbent Mike Allen to drop out of the race. Unofficial figures show Deters beating former assistant city prosecutor Fanon Rucker.

I will work my guts out to get Blackwell elected. I do not trust the OH GOP, especailly under Taft.

A.W. Benjamin is a loser. For some reason, the ran her for Traffficant's old seat and in a three man race she got about 33%

It has been pretty well known that Lt. Gov. Bradley would be running for a statewide office in 2006. As far as I know, she is the only person I have heard that may be replacing Deters.

In case you all did not know, State Treasurer Joe Deters won as a write-in for the position of Hamilton County Prosecutor (Cincinnati), after current Prosecutor Mike Allen, who was a statewide hopeful, was caught up in a sex scandal with an assistant prosecutor.

As far as Gov. Taft is concerned, it is looking likely that he will select Bradley. The question then becomes, who replaces Bradley at Lt. Gov. This is where things could become very interesting!

Let's give her a little credit. She is one big reason you and I are able to have a CCW permit here in Taftland.

Ohio Right to Life worked very hard to defeat Womer Benjamin and elect her Democratic pro-life opponent, Ryan. Of course, Ryan will flip-flop in a couple years are he gains power ala Kucinich.

I've read that Bob Bennett and the RNC would like to see Congressman Rob Portman as Lt. Gov. Then Bush would make Taft an offer he couldn't refuse (head of the Peace Corps or some such nonsense) and, voila!

I want Blackwell.

I agree. It's time conservatives in Ohio vote for the American Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party. Voinavich and DeWine have to go.

Well then, where the heck were they this year when Kucinch was opposed by the pro-life candidate Ed Herman. I heard their commercials for Bush and LaTourette but no Herman.

Did you see the election results for 2002? All the statewide Republians won with 55% or more. This is quickly becoming a one party state (with the exception of presidential years when there is GOTV money provided by the DNC). We have to take over the party, nominate our guys, and we will win.

It sounds like the Democrats already have a candidate for Treasurer in 2006 in Montgomery County Treasurer Hugh Quill.
The article states that there are 7 Republicans who have declared they are running for statewide office in 2006.

Libertarians believe in absolute freedom..as in absolute freedom to murder your child. They are NOT conservative or moral, thus the Libertarian label. Only the CP remains a valid choice for Christian conservatives.

Well, if he appointed her his running mate, I doubt he'll care about what people think about her being Treasurer.

Taft is a joke.

I had heard that also about Rob Portman. Blackwell is what Ohio needs in the Governor's mansion. Maybe Taft will appoint Portman to Treasurer.
