Miss M, I agree with your post wholeheartedly. This is the very essence of "Love the sinner, hate the sin." Here, a person has done something which we can call good in the world. That act should be praised. Her being gay is beside the point now. That act can be seen differently. How do we survive this planet with people like Ellen Degeneres!!
She actively encourages pet adoption and has adopted several from shelters. ( oh no, so do people from Free Republic)
She supports and donates to companion animals for the blind, deaf and eldery. ( hideous, just horrible)
She supports the USO ( oh no, so do people from Free Republic)
She has a brother who is a Marine. ( oh no, so do people from Free Republic)
She has given military families the opportunity to have a free vacation on a cruise. ( this has just gone too far! The families don't even have to pay the taxes for the cruise!!)
She supports Wheels for Humanity, which provides wheelchairs for disabled children in poor families. ( What is she thinking?)
She donated $6,100 to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. ( there is that animal lover again. Terrible)
She donates all procedes from front row tickets from her concerts to local charities ( evil, pure evil)
She donates to high school music programs ( those nasty kids, wanting to play music of all things)
She gives all of her income when she appeares on " Hollywood Squares to Breast Cancer Charities ( Let those cancer women die).
There is more, I just don't have the time to research and list them all.
So Ellen is a very giving person, not for the glory, but because she's a good person. She is also funny and entertaining. She puts on a clean show and has won an emmy for her new talk show.
But according to some ignorant morons on Free Republic, Ellen Degeneres is garbage because she's gay.
I wonder how many people who damn her for being gay do one tenth of the charity work as Ellen. And Ellen doesn't do it for herself, she does it for others.

Please re-read my post. I never called anyone a scumbag or any other name. For you to compare Ellen using one hour of her show to "give" cruises donated by Celebrity to Bob Hope is ridiculous. Bob hope and those who toured with him gave up holidays with their families for weeks every year.
One hour of a show that she was doing anyway does not even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. I did not say what Ellen did was bad. I only pointed out that what she gave away was paid for by someone else and she benefited greatly for their generosity.

Hillary. Don't you see? She's trying to trick the animals, children, the elderly,and disabled. She's trying to trick them into liking her. Because she wants to push her "lifestyle" in their faces. It's an elaborate plan on her part, all the more reason to hate her for it. I, for one, say we look for something nasty to say about her. I'm going to dedicate a lot of time and energy to it, too.
Too bad the 'kettles' are suspicious of someone who has a very long history of charity and is the family member of a Marine, all because she's of the same persuasion as family members of honorable and respected people in our current administration.
She's also a big John Kerry supporter which means she supports murdering little babies. Yes, she's garbage for lots of reasons.

3)The implication that because Cheney's daughter is "gay," it has ANY bearing on the ideological bonifides of DeGeneres.
I know many liberals who donate to animals and medical charities; I have a very good friend whose wife is a hard-core lib, yet her brother is Spec-Ops.
Considering the woman's past, her motives and ideology is certainly suspect at the least, and warrants further cynicism until SOME kind of track record can be deduced. Providing ANY series of quotes supporting our troops might help your case.
Btw, were you at all "suspicicious" of Hitlery's Thanksgiving visit to the troops last year? Or did you coo, and say "Aaaw, she cares. She really cares..."
