The names of thousands of Franklin County voters will soon appear on a web site open for public view.
That list will detail whose provisional votes counted and whose did not. Meantime, sorting out which of those ballots are valid remains a tough task.
Since the moment that the general election was over November 2, Franklin County Board of Elections workers began trying to verify 14,000 provisional ballots. They were cast whenever a person's name did not appear on registration rolls. Voters insisting they were legally registered got to go ahead and conditionally vote, with their registration status to be checked out later.
"What we have to do go back and see if we have it in files. We compare signatures and see if this ballot was voted by a person who is really who we think they are," Franklin County Board of Elections director Matt Damschroder explained.
Sometimes, the process is simple. Sometimes, it's like complicated detective work. There can be name changes, different addresses and missing birthdates to deal with, to name a few problems.
The still-to-be counted provisional ballots remained in the Board of Election's vault under lock and key Tuesday(11/23) night. They are so guarded that 10TV was not even permitted to go into the room where they are kept.
The work will be over soon.
"We're probably 99 percent through our verification process," Damschroder said.
On Monday(11/29), they can actually begin counting votes.
In Ohio, the number of provisional votes is greater than President George Bush's statewide margin over Senator John Kerry. But Kerry would have to get almost every one of those votes to change the outcome of the presidential election.
It's interesting the amount of press this certification process is getting. Much ado about nothing.
Is the mass voter fraud going to begin now on Thanksgiving?
It is? I thought the number was around W's margin of votes, or even less, once the invalid ballots were weeded out.
I just don't understand how any of these meaningless recounts and provisional ballot counts really matter at this point. The only peopele who even place a small amount of faith in these impacting the election results are the far left Kool-Aid crowd
I'm sorry - that would clearly include the MSM. So I guess I have my answer as to why we are still treated to these stories.
This article must not be keeping up to date with the rest of Ohio. They've already counted roughly about 55 of the 88 counties in Ohio. Or about 40,000 of the provisional ballots. And the last I saw, Bush actually increased his lead by about 4,000 votes. Also in Chayhouga (sp?) county, they've rejected 8,000 votes. So already, there is not enough votes for Kerry to even come within 30,000 votes even if he did carry 100 percent of what is left.
Looks like Bush is not in trouble. If he was the MSM would be all over this story big time. No need to worry folks.
Didn't Franklin county report a voter registration of something like 106%?( voters registered over voters eligible) Isn`t Franklin county mostly democratic? This should be interesting.
It was this year but in 2000 it was pretty even with Gore getting some 5000 more votes.
And every person that tried to vote illegally should be put in jail. Its about time the US puts its foot down on voter fraud, IMHO.
Bush's current lead:
136000ish Unoffical Nov 3 count
-3800 An error already found and to be added in Gahanna(sp?)
+5000ish from Provisionals already counted thus far in 55 o the 88ish counties
His lead, therefore, before Cleveland's (Cuyahoga) 24000 and Franklin's 14000 (minus the toss rate in both counties) are counted is now about 137000. Meaning, the article is now wrong. The number of PVs available to move the lead is no longer 155K. It is 155K minus the entire state's toss rate minus all those already counted.
There are NOT enough remaining uncounted PVs to swing the election, even if every single one went to Kerry. There are less than 100,000 remaining provisional ballots to count.
I'm wondering how many provisional ballots will have names like "Mary Poppins" and "Homer Simpson" on them as registered democrats.
I dont know but I voted provisional and I found it to be relatively difficult to get away with scamming the system they were using. I had to show proof of address (a bill or something) and an ID that matched the proof of address.
I live in the New Albany area so im thinking fraud committed by precinct workers is low. In the inner city, im sure there is far more willing accomplices.
You know what the funny thing is....We all know fraud exists from both sides of the fence right??...and it has for many many years all across our great country!!
Now some people just figured out there is fraud and they are screaming in the streets for every legal vote to count...which I agree all votes should count!! But what is funny their answer to the problem we have is "oh let's have a paper trail with the new computerized systems we are putting in place." All I have to say to those people saying that is ummmmm "Hello fraud has been being committed with paper trails proably from the begining of our government!!"
Basically I guess what I am trying to say in laymans terms is no matter what system we use to vote there will always be Fraud! No matter what!! You would have to be pretty dense not to realize this!! There will always be someone there to outsmart the new systems!
I for see this being a never ending argument and every race now will be considered fraud! It almost makes me not want to even bother voting again!! I wish the Kool aid drinkers would just shut up and go away because they have no way to make sure any election won't have cheaters stuffing the ballot box! All they do is point out the problem like thats something new...Not to mention it annoys me that they only talk about fraud they think comes from the Republican party!! What a joke they are! I wish they would count the WHOLE state of Ohio again and when it's over and Bush still wins...you can bet your last dollar they will still look for something or some reason to still say it was rigged!
The whole provisional/absentee/recount thing has never been more than a pipe-dream for the Dems. If you remember, they're original thinking was that there would be 250,000 provisional ballots, turns out there was 155,000. Then they said if 90% of the provisional ballots are validated that would leave 140,000 valid votes and if Kerry won them all he would win. Now that it looks like he will only gain a few thousand votes after they're all counted they're now pinning their hopes on 93,000 undervotes that could be counted in a recount even though Bush will still maintain a 120K-130K lead after the provisionals are counted.
Personally, I'm loving this whole thing. The libs are too stupid to just realize that they lost the election so instead they prolong their misery by hanging onto scenarios that will never happen.
They should enforce fines for every double vote found! This is the only way to teach them a lesson.
Kinda hoping they get their way and recount and find Kerry won. Be nice to bring on the civil war now while my kids are young.
