If your target is within the range of the scope yes. Most scopes are easily detatchable for this reason. Your able to aim at close range targets with iron sites. The scope is usally used for targets outside of 100 meters.

Scopes are not THAT easily detachable. You need a screwdriver to put one on and take it off, because it's screwed down to the scope mount.

Paying all that money, putting on the new scope and sighting in your gun would do you precious little good otherwise.

His story stinks.
